AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHH, after a few years under the name of Silhouette I found out that there is another band with the same name and they are from the Netherlands as well.... Check them out and expect a change of name from my part in the near future. If someone has an idea for a cool name: let me know!!!
Sorry for my inactivity of late, I've been busy with a lot of other music projects. I've been working a lot for my band Dear Watson. Making demos, writing songs, practice and doing some gigs. Besides that I've broadened my musical horizons by making some not-metal songs! I'll be sure to post them here, it's kinda cool to have the opportunity to make such differing songs!
Anyways, my Silhouette project is a bit inactive, but there are some great ideas going on in my head: I tried to record some violin with one of my brothers and it went pretty good, so that opens a lot of new doors!
And now for the real bio... ;)
While on holiday in summer 2002 I got the idea to compose songs to make a concept album. Wrote some lyrics and the music. But as time flew by and I got older and a bit better in writing music, I wrote new songs, much better than the old and so now I use almost nothing of my old material...
So now I have enough songs for a whole album, but no lyrics/singer. And there is a lot of synth programming left to do. So the album still has to wait but here are some demo's to give an idea.
Please be so kind and leave a comment, I'd appreciate it very much to hear some feedback!
Tot 14 november 2008 kan er digitaal ingeschreven worden voor de GPZH 2009. Er zijn toffe prijzen in de categorieën Dance/Producers, Urban, Singer/Songwriter en Bands. Please spread the word!
Beer Man! What's Going on! You heard correct my friend. I will leave on Jan 10th and will be in Germany for 3 weeks then I will move to Amsterdam the last week of January (uni starts in february). It's going to be a great year. Looking forward to working on some material! Jose told me about you're plans, they sound great. Well see you soon, take care, -Ram
Berend, Moody Beer, Pure genius! I even wrote some lyrics messing around at home jaja! Hope all is well in Delft, hopefully we can work together sometime. Really digging the music, Greetings from Puerto Rico, Take it easy, -Ram
I think if you stick with the idea of the glass of wine, burning candle, and old memory idea . . . well, you could have something. I'd listen to it!
Things are real good on my side of things. I've spent an inordinate amount of time playing with different sounds for a few songs, one in particular is going to be a spacy epic thing. It's clocking in around 9 minutes. Ugh. Now it's lyric time . . . I'll keep you posted.
Berend, just stopped by and heard 'Make It In Time' and 'Moody Beer' . . . very cool songs. 'Moody Beer' sounds like something I'd listen to while drinking a glass of red wine and remembering past loves gone wrong. Great textures . . . love it. 'Make It In Time' was definitely different sounding than most of your other stuff, and totally awesome. I particularily liked the guitar work towards the end of the song. What kind of effects are you using? I'd like to explore that sound myself . . . =)
Dude . . . thanks for the nice comment! I never posted "Something Real" coz' I never felt great about it, but it's received quite a bit of praise. Who knew? "Inside the Mind" has been around awhile and I still love it . . . it's just fun to jam to.
Just heard your new song and I think it's amazing! One of your best yet . . . I look forward to the day you release an album . . . just ear mark the first U.S. copy for me. =)
Hey man, just stopped by to see what was new on your site and listened to 'Ego' and 'Light of Dawn', and I was simply blown away! The riff that you break into at the end of 'Ego' is filled with groove, and the guitar solos on 'Light of Dawn' are so smooth and tastful!
Aye, I'm also looking forward to Legend III:II... It'll be interesting to hear how the saga ends. I'm also looking forward to Virgin Black's 'Requiem'. It's a series of three albums recorded with a full orchestra.
Cheers for the add! Not only do you have some superb bands in your top friends [I'm looking at Ram-Zet in particular] but your music is amazing! If you've got any music available for purchase I'd be happy to buy it.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad that the soundscapes felt appropriate for your Oblivion experience :) Keep up the wonderful work yourself, truly inspiring and atmospheric soundscapes you have managed to create! Creative Commons is definitely one of the most interesting "ways to publish" music. It doesn't exclude income though - I have been thinking of producing physical CDs which I'd sell through some kind of external web based shop with price of 10€ (postal costs included) but the CD wouldn't affect the freedom of the music itself. So person would only pay for the physical material, not for the actual music and he would be free to copy and share the material as he likes. -Matti
