About me: To summarize: I am an opinionated human being who has a wonderful family and works at a bagel shop while going to college to major in History even though I wont end up being a teacher so I guess I kinda screwed myself over in that case. I like people in general, love sports, and don't get me started on music.
I was born and raised right here in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. I love the Second City and would find it difficult to live anywhere else, though I have enjoyed the brief time I have spent elsewhere and would love to someday visit Germany, Japan, and of course China in addition to many other places (those 3 are the priority).
I have a son, Julian, and he is the most wonderful and fantastic part of my life. Every day with him is a new adventure and he truly has added so much to my experience of this world. My girlfriend, Tiansang (Rachel to most Americans), was born in China and has been in the United States since 2006. She is a talented artist and a fascinating and wonderful person in most every way.
My main interests are music, history, and baseball in no particular order. However, I also enjoy acting, writing, learning about other people, driving in the car with the windows down in the middle of a freezing winter night, and pretty much life in general.
I am a bass player first and foremost but also am a self-taught guitar player and singer. I enjoy all kinds of music and have been influenced by a wide variety of genres and artists. I'll keep most of my musical information off of here, but anyone interested in hearing things I'm involved in or learning about them should visit my other myspace (Ryan Sylverne) or www.myspace.com/lostinblue
I enjoy learning other languages and about other people (both individuals and cultures). I used to take Japanese, though I have forgotten most everything (with the exception of Odatari odotari shimasu; Otealli wa doko desu ka; Beeru onigashoomasu; etc.) and am currently studying German and Chinese. Hopefully I can somewhat speak Chinese before my son so he can't talk about me behind his back with mommy!
Who I'd like to meet: All of you! Please, don't hesitate to contact me, talk with me, let me know who you are and what is going on in your life. Want to trade names of artists and musicians we may both like? I'd love to be introduced to more music and to help spread the artists that I listen to. Have boyfriend problems? I can pretend to know stuff about relationships. Looking for someone to argue with about the Chicago sports-scene? I will fight you to the death that Alfonso Soriano is an acceptable lead-off hitter and that Kyle Orton is still not a quality quarter back. Believe that the American Civil War was about slavery or the Vikings wore horns on their helmets? Well, I'm not sure what to say to you in that case, honestly. Whatever you want to discuss, I would love to be a part of it.
We hope you're doing fine and want to let you know that there're some updates on our page :)
