About me:

Hi, I'm Silke*!

Originally I'm from a little place called Hennef in Germany, but have been living in Auckland in New Zealand for years and years now. I used to live live in Bonn studying musicology, before I left. Hennef is quite near Bonn, actually.

There are a lot of things I love about New Zealand; most of all I really really like NZ music, I always have. From early teenage years back in Germany in fact. Geek girl!

I'm currently studying Musik Event Management at MAINZ in Auckland, besides I earn my living as freelance designer, mainly web and print. As part of my course, I've just started an intership at IMNZ. I have a wee radio show on www.95bfm.com, where I've also been writing breakfast news since '07. I'm the kind of person who's usually not without a camera in her bag, I love taking photos of events and of people in general, of faces, I like to look at my photos and see what the person felt in that moment. Oh and I volunteer lots, spot me looking silly in a zoo uniform at Auckland Zoo or being made wear a SAFE cap at their events.

I amateurishly play ukulele and sing, people say they like it, so somehow I ended up with a slot on Adam's Friday Drive on 95bFM singing out of tune on air. However, besides being very anxious about it, I'm having a great time and the audience seems to enjoy it, so yay for that!

In another life, the german years, I was a music journalist, I was working on a career in radio and events. I got to do some really interesting things. I'm on my way back into events and music related work these days, something that makes me particularly happy because I'm so in love with NZ music.

I also blog extensively, but you'll have to google that, if you care. It's not a very cool blog, either.

    Zee band is..$10 door charge, Micheal has seen them- says they are VERY cool & fun band. the lead singer said they'll be on about 11pm & squirrel skin slippers are on 10pm.
    at least she's given me notice to when she plays unlike the whammy bar nite! oh maybe nap before all the excitement?

    Did you hear about our little earthquake? Wow it was like a bomb
    went off the way it shook! Really, I wasn't too far from the epicenter - the fault was nearby. It's called shake and bake around these parts. It's hot and humid.
