Silk ’n Steel is a classic and modern rock
band based in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Born from the ashes of the Daytona band DeepSlick and led by veteran
area singer Vicky Kay, Silk ’n Steel specializes in danceable rock, pop
and funk hits
of the 60’s through today, with an emphasis on music from the 70’s and
80’s.
While the band does play it’s share of standards, Silk ’n Steel
keeps the three-chord bar songs to a minimum. The band instead leans toward choosing a rather
unique setlist that most local bands tend to shy away
from. By including their audiences in their high-energy stage
shows, Vicky and the boys have worked nearly every weekend since 2001,
dating back to the old DeepSlick days...
By playing local rock clubs, restaurants, sports pubs, biker bars,
concerts and special events sponsored by the area cities and others, Silk ‘n Steel has earned a
respectable and loyal fan following through the years - although the band uses the term “fan” loosely.
“We consider the people who come to see and hear us our friends,
not fans”, says
singer/band-leader Vicky Kay, who adds, “because without them, we are nothing”.
