Over the past few years, Silk Digital Records has evolved from a humble progressive label - showcasing the work of just a few select Russian artists, such as Mango and Arthur Deep - to an international, multi-genre enterprise. Electronic music fans, DJ's, and producers from around the world have enjoyed the label's distinctive blend of emotional, sophisticated and, above all, uplifting sounds. Initially the vision of four good friends from Moscow, Silk now includes amongst its ranks a litany of accomplished international artists in the genres of progressive, breakbeat, and ambient, many of whom have reached the top of the charts. .. .. Launched in May of 2009, Silk Royal Records definitively represents the more driving, "big room" brand of progressive house. A&R'ed by Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Jacob Henry, Silk Royal highlights artists who keep their ears close to the dancefloor, while still maintaining the label standard of high production quality and emotional, mature sound. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..SILKRL018 Aeron Aether & Mango feat. Civil Servants :: Searching For A Memory.. Silk Royal is thrilled to present "Searching For A Memory," a release that unites the talents of several of the most accomplished international artists in progressive house. Aeron Aether & Mango, who have both charted on Beatport on dozens of occasions over the past few years, have teamed up with Civil Servants, a rising songwriting and vocals duo from Philadelphia. The Original Mix begins with a potent bassline from Aether, followed by his innovative use of strings and pads. Poignant lead melody lines from Mango appear soon thereafter and, in the main break, offer a climactic backdrop to Civil Servants' haunting, yet sexy lyrics. Russian star PROFF (Anjunadeep), whose "Starstruck" remains a Silk Royal label highlight, has teamed up with good friend Feu D'or for an 80's-inspired instrumental interpretation. This feel-good mix by one of progressive's "elder statesman" dares you to leave the dancefloor. Polish sensation Sundriver offers two moodier, after-hours interpretations (vocal / instrumental). Now firmly established as one of the premier acts in progressive house / trance with a recent top 15 hit on Beatport ("Good Morning Track" Remix), Sundriver taps into the emotional energy of the original in crafting these two moving interpretations. Finally, Swedish artist Crayons (producer behind Lanui) offers a jubilant, 80's-influenced take. Clearly influenced by his Scandinavian brethren Michael Cassette, Crayons' mix is equal parts emotional and euphoric. .. .. ..SILKRL017 Tom Fall :: Dive.. Silk's summer season has been highlighted by various releases from Finnish breakthrough artist Tom Fall; his latest offering, "Dive," is one of his most poignant. A fixture on the Beatport Progressive House charts this year (including the top 25 hit "Cubic" on Anjunadeep), Tom Fall infuses his Original Mix with a signature driving bassline, which propels the track into the first of two massive breakdowns. In the first break, the listener is met with the lead motif of the tune: a hypnotic and highly innovative synth lead. Delicate background arpeggios and various other lead melodies fill out the tune as it progresses into the more climactic lead break.G-Tek, whose work on parent label Silk Digital has received great acclaim (including a special mention by Jaytech in DJ Mag), returns the favor of Tom Fall's recent remix of his own "Infinito." The Panamanian talent offers an extended intro before launching into a peak-hour interpretation of his own. While staying true to the original melodies of the tune, G-Tek has added his signature vox stabs and strings, which are reminiscent of his classic "New School FM."Closing out the package, Tom Fall offers an alternate "Remode" of the original, a trance-inspired take that packs a little extra wallop. More specifically, the percussion section has been given much more weight, and we are also treated to a new echoing vocal effect. Finally, in the main break, strings and a new lead piano theme have been added as well, both of which contribute more emotional energy to the tune. .. .. ..SILKRL016 Tom Fall & Something Good :: Reflections.. In recent years, Finland has become a veritable hotbed of EDM talent, so it should come as no surprise that the collaborators on "Reflections" all hail from the land of a thousand lakes. Tom Fall, a recent standout on the Anjunadeep 02 compilation with his top-25 hit "Cubic," and Something Good, also not strangers to the Beatport charts with their top-40 hits "Solence" and "Cielo," have teamed up on an anthemic new release, replete with two high-profile remixes. The Original Mix is a peak-hour stormer, highlighted by a chills-inducing African world music sample. In the main break, this beautiful sample is allowed to soar, while a combo piano-synth provides a greater emotional charge. Sundriver, who has been a label fixture of late, provides a characteristically chilled, yet poignant prog trance rendering. Frequently supported on Above & Beyond's "Trance Around the World" radio show, Sundriver once again gives a Balearic makeover to the tune, with radiant pads that would make Nick Bracegirdle blush. Finally, Embliss, one of Silk's veteran contributors, offers a more traditional prog house rendering, yet no less emotive than the first two mixes in the package. With recent top-100 charters on Armada's Electronic Elements division, Embliss continues to receive greater recognition for his soothing, yet sophisticated niche in the international prog house arena. .. .. ..SILKRL015 Mango :: Good Morning Track (Remixes).. Silk Royal is honored to present a special remix package of "Good Morning Track," originally one of the most beloved works by progressive phenom Mango. First up, Polish progressive trance sensation Sundriver returns to Silk Royal with a vintage Balearic, heart-of-summer rendering. A gorgeous extended pad intro offers the listener an early taste of the beachside flavor to come, especially stunning later on in the break, when Mango's original vocal samples soar above a gentle breakbeat. Sundriver (Anjunabeats, Vandit, Enhanced), two-time recipient of "record of the week" honors on Above & Beyond's "Trance Around the World" radio show, looks forward to a slew of new releases in the latter half of 2010. Finnish artist Tom Fall brings his explosive and uplifting brand of progressive house to the second remix in the package. Coming off of his highly successful "Cubic" release, a standout on Anjunadeep's recent compilation, Tom Fall's mix captures the jubilant essence of the original. Finally, rising Ukrainian star Sunn Jellie [Armada], whose recent remix of Schodt's "You And Me" [SILKRL011] received glowing feedback, returns with a euphoric prog trance stormer. His mix features an aggressive, resonant bassline, which, coupled with the lead synths, brings a ferocious energy to the track. Following a lovely vocal solo in the break, the subsequent drop offers an exhilarating, peak-hour moment. .. .. ..SILKRL014 Schodt feat. Aida Fenhel :: White Tiger.. Silk Royal is excited to present a new vocal release, featuring the amazingly talented Ukrainian singer Aida Fenhel. Her collaborator is label fixture Schodt, who continues to dazzle us with the maturity and depth of his work. The Original Mix jets out of the gate with an explosive rhythm section, as Aida's sensual voice slowly creeps into the mix. Suddenly, the beats drop away, and the mesmerizing main verse is left to breathe on its own. In the chorus, crystalline synth stabs join an uplifting side-chained pad, while the vocal continues to soar overhead. Longtime Silk muse Mango, whose contributions to parent label Silk Digital and ambient sub-division Silk Sofa remain fan favorites, offers a driving and euphoric interpretation. Mango's talent for chord-based melodies is once again on display here, as well as a tremendous sense of rhythmic and melodic progression. The combination of his vintage sound with Aida's voice is especially poignant. Finally, virtuoso musician, engineer, and "sonic experimentalist" Matt Lange offers a deeper, darker, sexier take, with clear influences from the progressive "golden" era of years past. A techy rhythm develops early, as well as his trademark rolling arp lines, which pinball back and forth across the strereo spectrum to vertiginous effect. In the breakdown, dubby "echoes" of Aida' voice are layered on top of one other, creating an awe-inspiring soundscape. .. .. ..SILKRL013 Pconvolve :: Cosmology.. "Cosmology," which walks the line between progressive house and trance, is the sonically intricate debut single from American sensation Pconcolve. In the first quarter of the track, an aggressive rhythm and a floaty lead soon make way for the first of several gorgeous breaks, in which the key melodic themes of the track are presented. In the main break, a stunningly resonant synth build, as well as a "chirping" new lead, bring the track to a breathtaking climax. On remix detail, label mainstay Schodt lends his brilliant musicianship and creativity to an equally genre-defying take: he has added completely new melody lines, as well as a plethora of symphonic effects, most evident in the massive main break. Veteran French producer Urban Breathe makes his Silk debut with a characteristically more atmospheric and delicate interpretation, giving extra breathing room for his gorgeous new melodies and arpeggios. Like the Original, early support for this one has come from James Grant on his acclaimed "Anjunabeats Worldwide" radio show. Finally, Matt Lange, fresh off of the success of his "East Coast" release, DJ events throughout the Northeast USA, and recent appearance on ISOS Vol. 8, offers a cheeky alternative to the Original with the 'Cosmopolitan' Remix." Key rhythmic variations shine on his lovely take. .. .. ..SILKRL012 Ad Brown & Darin Epsilon :: Cold Water.. For its twelth release, Silk Royal is pleased to announce a new collaboration between label fixture and SRS radio co-host Ad Brown and acclaimed American progressive house DJ and producer, Darin Epsilon. Ad is coming off a recent USA tour (including his debut at Pacha NYC) and the news of signing two originals to the upcoming "In Search of Sunrise" Vol. 8 compilation; Darin -- not to be outdone -- prepares to headline the monthly Silk Royal night in Philadelphia and is also gearing up for a summer tour of Asia. Their Original Mix is a sexy, hot-summer-night progressive anthem, featuring a distinctively funky lead synth. In the break, an incisive new arpeggio carries a signature Ad Brown breakdown. Playton, whose acclaimed remix of Atlantis Ocean's "Life Frequency" was a label highlight of 2009, triumphantly returns with a radiant interpretation. The talented Russian artist has re-imagined the original as a prog trance stormer, with an aggressive rhythm and melodically resonant, peak-hour breakdown. Fellow Silk veteran Dezza also is along for the ride, as he gives the original his signature "Halifax house" treatment.
