so yesterday i was riding in the car and stopped at a light at the intersection of se division and 50th and saw this painted window sign of a green monkey on the back of a donkey. i kept looking at it--thinking what the fuck?!--seriously... then i saw that above the monkey were the words "do you have a monkey on your back?" --and that seemed kind of interesting and odd, but i expected something expected. then i looked closer at the rest of the storefront and building and realized that it was a pawn shop that also cashed checks. at that point a was thinking that they can't seriously be fucking serious!? portland is fantastic!!! and you know that for sure when the pawn shops advertise directly to junkies with their storefronts by telling junkies that they are asses with terrifying green monkeys on their backs that need them to sell their shit to buy shit! outer east portland has a fuckton of character for sure...
