The Silverbacks are an electric blues/rock band based in Richmond, Virginia. The band was started in 2002 by our harmonica player, Dave Cox, and guitarist, Jim McCauley. The band features two guitarists (Jim McCauley and Paulo Franco), a bassist (Marty Schwab), a drummer (Miles Johnston), and, of course, a harmonica player (Dave Cox). Although the band covers the well-recognized classic blues of Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, T. Bone Walker, Little Walter, etc. we also play some more modern pieces in the style of the Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yardbirds, James Brown, Cream, J. Geils Band, Doors, ZZ Top, Little Feat and Bonnie Raitt. We also cover some interesting numbers by artists as varied as the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Crowded House, Ryan Adams, Crowded House, Van Morrison, Alice in Chains. As the band sets in with its new line up, we plan on adding more blues numbers from the classics to the modern greats and other rock covers to the repetoire. The Atkinsons are opening for Cross Canadian Ragweed at Toad's Place in Richmond, VA on Sunday Jan. 18th! Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 at the door. All ages show.
