  • Bio

Silver Cities formed in 2003 as an Alt-Country six- member-mega band. In 2005 Michael Silversmith disbanded the group wrote new songs and put the group back together this time as a power pop trio. Silver Cities signed to the indie label Velvet Blue Music in 2006, and released their first 5 song EP with the title track "Emergency". "Emergency became a dance floor hit being spun in LA clubs like Club Underground and was followed by A video filmed by Dandy Noel. "....Driven by a two-note, siren-like guitar line and Silversmith's happily panicky vocals, "Emergency" is an urgent call to action on the dance floor- a musical concoction that Silversmith, when goaded, says is influenced by 'the raw energy of the Clash and the danceability of the Cars.' " In late 2007 the band recorded a full length album "Power and Strife" and opened for She Wants Revenge at Casino Morongo in Palm Springs, Ca. In 2007 the band hit the road for a national tour. The band went out with a bang, playing their last show at the Viper Room in LA in December 2007, they brought 70+ people with them from their hometown of Riverside on a bus filled with liquor and lot's of smiles. In 2008 Michael Silversmith left the group and went solo, releasing his first solo album "Life is Beautiful" in late 2010.

  • Sounds Like

...The trio, with Gary Allen on bass and Daniel Zimmerman on drums, is supporting its September release on Orange County-based indie Velvet Blue Music, "Power and Strife." Its twitchy, catchy agit-rock is a far cry from Silversmith's former incarnation as a folkie. "It was a big change of direction for me, but I always loved the more upbeat pop and rock and dance," he says. "I'm having a lot of fun doing it." -LA Times Dec. 2007
