It was in the early months of 2007 that The Holy Spirit began stirring in hearts of 9 Godly men to begin a music project that would transcend traditional Gospel music barriers and “Bridge The Gap” between yesterday and today…thus Silver City was born. At the core beliefs of Silver City is that worship and music go hand in hand and both should be relevant to whoever is listening. As these champions march forward carrying the banner of Jesus Christ they purpose not to forget the sacrifices paid by those who have blazed the trail before them. If it weren’t for pioneers like The Speer Family, The Blackwood Brothers, The Statesmen Quartet, Mattie Moss Clark or James Cleveland there would be no foundation to build upon. Silver City also determines to expand the boundaries of Gospel Music that have been claimed by many of the current artists today like The Gaither Vocal Band, Gold City and Ernie Haas and Signature Sound.
In the Vocals Dept.: Collectively Silver City has more than 100 years of experience in singing and playing and more than 50 years of ministry experience. Jeremy Skinner sings lead. Jeremy has proven himself to be an anointed singer, songwriter and has been known to preach a sermon or two. Taking the tenor is Kevin Woody. Kevin is singing proclaiming the Gospel in song and stirring congregations with his smooth tenor tones. Filling the gap on baritone is Tim Hamby. Tim sang his first professional gig at the age of 3 and has been involved musically all of his life. Tim also brings his unique song writing ability to the group. That makes up Silver City.
The Silver City Band: The band line up is the perfect mix of experience and talent to accomplish the task of creating relevant worship. Playing Keys: Tommy Smith weaves melodies and riffs that are uplifting and contagious. On Acoustic Guitar: Josh “Mr. Metronome” Skinner lays down grooves as refreshing as a cool lazy river on a hot summer day. On Lead Guitar: Leaning on the influences of guitarist like Jerry Reed and Brent Mason, Steve McClure brings both the traditional and modern country styles to Silver City. In the engine room is Tommy Hamby on bass and Andy Stroup on drums laying down a groove so wide you can drive a Silver Eagle through it.
