’’UP and coming rock band Silver Story are set for big things with debut album ’Are we there yet?’ Watch out for single ’The summer happy beer song’ it’s a guarenteed hit!’’
-St.Helens STAR Newspaper- on Silver Story’s debut album.
"Impressive melodies, impressive myspace, we will definitely be keeping our eyes on Silver Story!"
Bookings- Management: Liam Taylor ( taylormanagement@live.co.uk)
Silver Story was formed completely in november 2007 when St.Helens drummer Gary Haigh completed the line-up. Before that the trio Alex McCabe(Vocals and guitar), Brian Sambrooks(lead guitar) and Ben Taylor(bass) spent their free hours writing and learning the songs so that when the time came they would be ready to burst onto the liverpool music scene. The material for the much anticipated upcoming album 'Are we there yet?' has been written mostly by McCabe but with the rest of the band making notable contributions. 'Brian writes most of the lead stuff' admitts McCabe 'and Ben and Gaz both like to add their own ideas and change the music that I tell them to play which is annoying at first but then you stop and listen and think, hey that works!' Drummer Gary haigh is eager to publicly praise the rest of the band and stress the impact that the change has had on him: ''I'm happy in silver story, in other bands i've felt restricted but now I feel I can let loose and do as I please, with in reason of course, but I believe I'm finally showing my capabilities.''
The band lately have been pondering over which songs to include on their debut album and have been very reluctant to confirm the exact songs that will feature on it from their original set-list. 'We can guarentee the song ''Nothing'' will be on there as it's going to be our first single, but there may be some songs from the set-list we play that don't feature' insists McCabe ' and maybe a song that we don't play at our gigs' adds Sambrooks. One thing is clear, and that is that Sambrooks is referring to his own song 'opened' which has featured on the band's myspace recently and has recieved some extremely positive feedback. ''It's really nice, it sounds like it could be on the O.C or a mobile phone advert'' says one fan Andrea Melding after hearing the song whilst browsing on the popular website. McCabe was quick to convince Brian to re-record the song under Silver Story as he did with his own song 'The end.'
Silver Story have spent the most part of the new year playing gigs within the north-west area, the most prestigious of these venues being Carling academy (supporting Whole lotta led), Barfly (with hardcore superstar + The mouth) and also the Cavern club which is famous for being the venue of which the beatles were most fond of. The band have been causing a stir especially in liverpool and St.Helens and after the album release in april the four-piece plan to spread their music as far and wide as possible. Band manager Liam Taylor has already contacted several respectalble radio stations regarding the band including top national station Radio one. ''They are the most exciting new band in liverpool in my opinion, and when you look at what they've achieved in just three months it's just amazing.'' praises enthusiastic and determined manager Liam Taylor referring to the myspace popularity of Silver Story and their catchy material. In the first week of march the four-piece Rock band will be in a warrington studio recording their debut album, which is to be entitled 'Are we there yet?' referring to the band's hunger and eagerness to make the big time. The key to Silver story's increasing popularity seems to be down completely to the music, this is not a band that relies on image or publicity stunts to get their message across, although the lads agree that image certainly does help: ''A couple of the fellas had a go at me before our first gig at barfly in december'' laughs like-able down-to-earth, liverpool born bass player Ben Taylor ''I played in a pair of trackies and the lads slated me for it going on about band image and all that!''
The influences can be heard very clearly in the music, whether it be the rock-on attitude that we have been accustomed to seeing from bands such as Foo fighters, the catchi-ness of the vocal melodies that we are used to hearing from bands like Blink 182 and Sum 41 or the bluesy guitar solos that crop up in almost everyone of Silver Story's songs, every lover of guitar based music will be able to relate to their songs. The band also believe that their music will appeal to most audiences ''We're one of those bands, like chili peppers and Foo fighters for example, that can appeal to even the most dedicated rock 'n' roll fan and at the same time make an impression on somebody who listens to nothing but dance music'' insists front-man Alex McCabe. In all honesty, it appears to be only a matter of time before Silver Story create that all important ''Local Buzz'' which will enable them to move onto bigger things.
