The name Silver Tears was influenced from the Deep Purple song called When a blind man cries. The song made them wonder, what is the value of the tears of a blind man. They decided to name their band Silver Tears as a research for the values of a blind man's tears. They performed for the first time at Summer Jam 2007 at Uzan Bazaar in Guwahati. They got average response but it was a starting of a journey which is not preferred by most of the people now a days. Playing pure neo classical heavy metal songs were their main priority. After summer jam 2007, Manjit and Akash had to leave the band due to various reasons. But the remaining four kept their nerves and started to find replacement for them. Until Rockophobia 2007, they were not able to find a bassist of their choice. So, they decided to perform in Rockophobia with Nitu[Bassist of Hammer head] as guest bassist and Abhishek[Vocalist of Crystal empire] as guest vocalist since Joy also had some problem performing in Rockophobia. They got a very good response in Rockophobia 2007. Then they performed in Battle of bands II organized by Cigars with a bassist named Amit. After BOB II, the perfect band was formed according to them, as they replaced Amit by Biswa and also included a guitarist named Senehashish. They were selected for Hornbill national rock contest 2007. They performed very well in Hornbill and got a huge crowd response. When the played the song Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne, a strange scene was observed in the cold venue of Hornbill, along with the young people, the aged people left their stalls and came to the front and banged their heads like anything. As they were the youngest band in that competition, no one expected them to play such classic songs. But they hold on to their nerves and put up a great show. They were the only band of their genre in the whole Hornbill competition . Then the time came for some changes. This time, not the members, but the Genre. They changed it from'Neo Classical Heavy Metal' to 'Neo Classical Progressive Heavy Metal', As per the influence of a band called Midnight Garden Factor From Shillong. Aftr Hornbill, they Performed in various shows n competitions. They were the finalists of PYE-ROCK-XIA held at Guwahati medical college. They also performed at FBL Rocka Rolla Fest.They were the Finalist of Thundermarch'09 at NIT Silchar.
They tried out some gigs with a vocalist johny but now they have got a new vocalist, Sunny. Currently workin on their new album.
