Silvertone Mastering was born in the mid-nineties out of a need for dedicated professional mastering at independent budget prices. The philosophy was to provide the highest quality service at the lowest price point manageable. Since that time Silvertone has mastered literally thousands of albums while maintaining this independent attitude.
Larry DeVivo started Silvertone Mastering as a one man shop with little to no overhead to maintain this incredible price point. Both major label artists and independent musicians have benefited from this philosophy along with the film industry. Silvertone's work can be heard in almost every major motion picture released in the United States since 2002.
Silvertone Mastering delivers the same quality work as the best mastering houses in the country only at a much more affordable price than most would think.
Larry DeVivo has been a veteran of the volume wars for over 30 years. Starting as a touring musician in the 70's DeVivo shared the stage with many luminaries in the industry, both on their way up and on their way down. Turning to the other side of the glass in the late 70's he came up through the "then" ranks of the time - tape-op, assistant engineer, engineer and finally producer. All the while DeVivo maintained his own facility in the east bay area of San Francisco becoming one of the first 'project studios' to enter the scene in the mid eighties. "Project studio" had not even become an Industry term till several years later. Upon moving back to the east coast Larry switched his efforts to mastering, seeing a need as most clients were skipping this process entirely. They just didn't know what mastering was and affordable mastering was non-existent at the time. Enter Silvertone Mastering, Inc. Still after a decade the only dedicated mastering facility serving the upstate NY area. Armed with the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm" and the knowledge that the song will dictate what needs to be done (if anything at all) he sets out on a new adventure everyday knowing full well that if he listens carefully enough, the song will lead the way.
Larry thanks so much for hanging out so long today and for the great work on my latest mix! Pleasure meeting you and hope to stay in touch and have more mixes to send your way in the coming months! Best regards!
