Born in East Africa in 1980, Silvertown Girl has been singing for as long as she can remember.
Encouraged by her mum and dad she joined her local church choir in Uganda at the tender age of 10 and experienced for the first time the thrill of performing in front of an audience.
Family commitments saw her packing her belongings two years later and moving to South Africa but despite this upheaval her love of music remained as strong as ever.
“I did the whole teenage girl thing of prancing around in front of my bedroom mirror but in a funny way it gave me much of the confidence I have today,” she says.
On reaching her early twenties Silvertown Girl moved to the UK, settling in the district of East London from which she now takes her name. Having worked hard to establish a network of industry contacts she says she is delighted to be collaborating with an experienced songwriter and production engineer - or her “musical soulmates” as she prefers to describe them. But whilst she wouldn’t swap her life for anything, making music isn’t cheap, as she explains.
“Singing is my passion but hiring recording studios and instruments is extremely expensive so I hope that people will help me to continue doing what I love by downloading at least one of my tracks.”
As Silvertown Girl continues to burn the midnight oil in the studio we’ll be releasing her new material on a regular basis - so be sure to check back for updates.
