I am a freelance Sound Engineer and Production Manager.
I started working for a very small PA company called Strings that later became Sound Advice in Portsmouth, England (May 1991 to Sept 1993). In January 1993, I started up a crewing company called UK Crew Hire. I supplied crew at various venues throughout the south coast of England (Jan 1993 to Sept 2001). I also went to work at Portsmouth University as the Entertainments Technical Manager for a year (Sept 1993 to Sept 1994). As well as being 1 of 4 house sound engineers engineering at The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth (Sept 1993 - Sept 1997).
After leaving my job at Portsmouth University I started working for lots of other companies as a freelance sound engineer. Some of these companies include Eurohire, Will Power, Atlantic Audio, Production Hire, Eclipes, Flying Music, Palm Pictures, Bill Kenwright, One Little Indian, Wrasse Records, The Britsh Council, Musicians Incorporated, 19 & Blueprint Management.

Working as much as possible to recover the 5 weeks I was laid up in may/june so no more Wembley. Anyway I don't think I could deal with watching us lose there to Man U.

hi simon, how are u ? i miss femi kuti's gigs and i intended to ask you if there were some on schedule in the near future, but my question doesn't make sense anymore, it seems, when reading the post according to which the new african shrine has been invested by the police and musicians and dancers arrested ! i'm really shocked ! i hope the situation has improved in the meantime.... do you have news ? thanks peace pia
On the evening of Saturday, December 15, Nigerians police raided the "New Africa shrine".
According to witnesses, up to 2OO police, including some heavily drunk officers, invaded the premeses, pretending to search for armed robbers.
Around 400 people have been reportedly arrested during the operation.
Femi Kuti is unharmed and well, but, several of its musicians and dancers, have been arrested and are detained. the band regular perfomances are cancelled for the time being.
This is a sad reminder of the various attacks,that were carried against Fela Kuti by Nigerian authorities.
Some things will never change, history repeat itself...
