Sounds Like
....reviews have mentioned Something For Kate, Nick Cave, Paul Weller, Neil Young, James Reyne, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen to name a few, which sounds like it’s a little hard to describe.
Warm’n’bright guitars, a driving rhythm section, strong melodies and lots of emotion and open spaces.
Based loosely in Fremantle WA, Simon London + the Spirits are a rock/roots-rock band that have a few releases out and play lots of shows and tours around Australia.
The band started up in 2003 with gigs around Perth before releasing their self-titled debut album 'Simon London + the Spirits' nationally through MGM. The two singles were supported well by radio so the band began its seemingly never-ending rounds of touring and east coast/west coast tours plus overseas jaunts to Canada, the US and such.
The band's based around the songwriting of Simon London who has released three solo albums prior to forming the Spirits. Different players float in and out at different times and for different tours and gigs. The line-up is often different, but sees Simon (vox/guitar) joined by Tim Keady (bass), Tim Stacey, Matt Morcombe or Tim Wiegele (drums), Chris Edmondson (guitar) and Clem (guitar, piano/hammond/rhodes) for various gigs and tours. It's not unusual for Simon to also do duo shows with drummer Shaun Hoffman or Chris Edmondson and plenty of solo shows too.
The release of the band's second album - 'Highway State Of Mind' in 2006 was a solid success with national and ongoing tours since. Plenty of airplay has also helped the band reach out to new audiences.
The band's next release is slated for mid 2008. At this stage it will looks as if it will be a double release - with both a band disc and a solo disc from Simon.

Rootsy Adelaide Trio Alias & The Jams are kickin’ off the Winter WA Tour with the release of their self titled Debut EP from the 7th - 28th June.
Jam’in out tunes over the West Coast, to increase awareness about Carbon Neutral and raise money for Trees For Life.
One effective way we can combat greenhouse gas emissions is to plant trees. Going carbon neutral is an easy way that we can all contribute to a solution by taking responsibility for the carbon dioxide emissions we create with our cars, airplanes and energy use.

Ah, yes, sorry. I got you mixed up with Simon Kelly for a minute there. What's left of my poor old brain only bothers to visit periodicly. I made and configured a computer for him & it decided to have a personality. It had to be punished, I learned it good, now it's behaving. Try swearing at yours in german while you kick it. It scares them!

Ahhh, yes...Salinas the 'salad bowl'. That is the reason I was there; to see as many virus infected lettuce plants as I possibly could in one place!!! I was sent on a 'round-the-world-looking-at-lettuce-viruses-trip'. It takes a special kind of person to get a kick out of that! Muir Woods was great. I was a little disheartened on the way up there though seeing all the karri trees....but the redwoods were awesome and it was the only 'touristy' thing I had time for! I LOVE TREES!!!
Hey, I was looking at your web site today and thought hmmm, I might buy his CD and then I thought pfft......I will go to the Paddo Thurs night and he can sign one for me. See you there :)
