Joseph Julian Gonzalez is a film and television composer with credits that include the feature films Curdled, Price Of Glory, the Academy Award-Nominated Documentary Feature Colors Straight Up, the television series Resurrection Blvd. and the Britney Spears music video “Oops, I Did It Again.” His television movies include La Pastorela, The Cisco Kid and the Imagen Award-Winning For The Love Of My Child: The Anissa Ayala Story. He also composed the score for the multiple award-winning PBS Documentary Chicano: The History Of The Mexican American Civil Rights Movement.
His classical concert music includes commissions for the avant-garde, Grammy-Winning Kronos Quartet and he has been awarded composer residencies from Meet The Composer and The American Composers Forum. His large-scale symphonic, choral and percussion ensemble piece, Misa Azteca, has been performed at Carnegie Hall, the American Cathedral in Paris, and opened the prestigious Cervantino International Festival in Mexico in 2004 with President Fox in attendance. The “Gloria” was recently performed at the Sydney Opera House this summer
Gonzalez recently composed the scores for Visiones: Latino Art And Culture for PBS (which was recently awarded the 2005 Imagen Award for Best Documentary) and Cinco De Mayo for the History Channel with famed documentary maker Hector Galán. The feature documentary Cowboy Del Amor, directed by Michèle Ohayon and original score by Gonzalez, won several film festivals and was nominated for an International Documentary Association and Writer’s Guild of America Award.

Joseph, thanks for inviting me to stop by and listen to your music. You write in quite a mix of genres - your Gloria is particularly impressive. The use of percussion and guitars combining with the standard orchestral sounds really works well.
Your music has a very fresh and uncluttered feel to it, with wonderful melodic invention making the tunes very memorable, which is so important in tonal music, I think. I can tell from listening that your music is of the highest quality and invention.

What I saw of the LONELY BOYS doc was wonderful. I had to keep leaving though...called off on film fest duties. I really want to see the film in it's entirety. Let's have a screening? I'm in Pasadena tonight and tomorrow. Will give you a call.
