The basement for Simple Plan was set in 1993, when Pierre Charles Bouvier and Charles- André Comeau formed a band called „Stone Garten“ together with Phil Jolicoeur and Jean- Sebastien Boileau which was renamend 1995 in „Roach“ and after a shorttime hiatus into „Reset“. In the following time they went on tour with different bands like MxPx, Ten Foot Pole or Face To Face. 1998 „Reset“ released their first record named „No Worries“. Short time later Jean- Sebastien Boileau left the band and after a fight with Pierre, Chuck was asked to leave. Adrien White took over the seat behind the drums and instead of looking for a new bass player Pierre started playing the bass guitar himself. After recording „No Limits“ and a bunch of conflicts with Adrien White Pierre left the band and was replaced by David Philippe Desrosiers one year later. In the meantime Chuck met his High School friends Jean- François Stinco and Gaétan- Jean Sébastien Lefebvre Pépin, both active in different bands. Together they formed what would later turn into „Simple Plan“. In fall 1999 Chuck ran into Pierre at a „Sugar Ray“ concert and asked him to join. The quintet was fullfilled when Chuck recruited „Reset“- bass-player David. The name Simple Plan came from the movie “A Simple Plan” and wasn’t meant to stay forever but after playing a bunch of shows under this name it was too late to change. 2001 they joined the „Vans Warped Tour“ for the first time as a band. 2002 the guys released their debut album „No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls“. The name was developed in dependence on the Rugby sentence „No Pads, No Helments, No Pussies“. Of this record the singles „I’m just a Kid“, „I do Anything“, „Addicted“ and “Perfect” were put out. Even though it’s just their first record you’ll find a couple of well known faces and voices on their CD and in the videos. Speaking of Pro- Skater Tony Hawk in the video to „I’m just a Kid“, (+44) and Ex- Blink 182 singer and bass guitar player Mark Hoppus in the video to „I’d do Anything“ and singing some vocals on the song, or „Good Charlotte“ frontman Joel Madden singing backvocals on „You don’t mean anything“. The song „Addicted“was edited by a couple of radiostations, because the line „I'm addic- I'm addicted to you“ sounds like „I’m a dick, I’m addicted to you“ . But exactly this was the bands’ intention, who had the plan of being the first band that got the word „dick“ on „MuchMusic“ and on „MTV“ without being edited. Playing more than 300 live shows 2002 should turn into their most active year up to date. In 2003 they headlined the Vans Warped Tour, were a part of the fun- horrormovie „Punk Rock Holocaust“-4 of the 5 guy are killed- and travelled around the world oppening for Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte and Green Day. Also the movie „Freaky Friday“ was released featuring the Beatles cover song „So Happy Together“. In the fall of 2003, the DVD „A Big Package For You“ produced by Patrick Langlois and Chuck Comeau was republished. It shows the band in their daily life on tour in the time between 1999 and 2003. The DVD appears with some postcards and a CD( „A Small Package For You“) with the songs„Crash and Burn“, „One Day(Live)“ and „I’d do Anything (Live)“. In the next year the band came up with their new record „Still not getting any...“. For the name the guys gave a couple of different explanations. First there’d be that they weren’t expecting getting any good reviews on this record but then Bouvier found one in AP. Another one was that they thought they would still not get any respect. The most popular intention comes from David Desrosiers, who said in an interview, that you can add to the title „still not getting any…“ words like „smarter“, „better“, „funnier“ or all other words revering to the „sexual life“. Chuck Comeau called the title as „ very changeable“. Out of this album, the singles “Shut up!”, “Welcome to my life”, “Crazy” and “Untitled” were released. The last one should get the add “How could this happen to me” soon. Unlike their first album, on this record whether were guest-vocals or other popular bandmembers in one of the videos. In 2004 the movie “New York minute” with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen came into the cinemas, for which the guys recorded the song “Vacation” and they performed it in the movie as well. Roughly abstract, the movie is about “Roxy” played by Mary-Kate who gets chased by the school authority because she is on her way to New York to see Simple Plan perform. Just one year later in 2005 Simple Plan’s first Livealbum “MTV Hard Rock Live” appears in stores which it is also avaiable as DVD. Henceforth the guys started touring around the world for more than 18 months until February 2006 when they backed out. Besides a few shows and their regularly Vlog releases, nothing was heard from them. On October 29th, 2007 the first single “When I’m gone” out of the new selftitled album „Simple Plan“ which will be published by February 12th, 2008 got released. This time the album was produced in Montreal, Miami, New York and Los Angeles and to quote the leadsinger it was a “difficult birth”. 4 months after they adjourn into the studio they finished up the production to the creation “Numero3”. But none of the five was really pleased. Therefore they threw everything back on the pile, changed the producers and started again from scratch. After a worldwide promotional tour at the end of 2007 the band began in 2008 with their world tour which according to press information would take about" 2 years' time. Since today, besides "When I'm gone," in which video Perez Hilton has a guest appearance, the second single "Your Love Is A Lie", which was written by Chuck got published. In June 2008, one band member sit out for a longer time. Through the birth of his second child, Jeff withdrew for almost a month of the tour and returned back on June 28th. During this time he was act in place by Jean-Sébastien Chouinard. On July 1st, the Canadians gave a free concert on the occasion of the "Canada Day" 's in front of 150,000 spectators. That concert in Quebec City has been the largest so far ... let's see what we have to expect for the future.... More informations: Simple Plan contributed to the first two Scooby- Doo Movies and for a TV animated-series the songs “Grow UP”, “I don’t wanna think abour you” and “What’s new Scooby- Doo”. In exchange they devoted an entire sequence in which they appear themselves as cartoon characters. This was called "Simple Plan and the invisible Madman". The Mötley Crüe Song “If I die tomorrow” was written by Simple Plan. It did not appear on the album “Still not gettin any...” because that song and “Untitled (How could this happen to me)” was too similar from the content. “I’m just a kid” is in the films "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "The New Guy" to hear. The advertising spot for Citroen Xs comes along with the song "Welcome to my life". The Soundtrack to the movie "Fantastic Four" also includes the Simple Plan track "Surrender".
