S I M P L E Theory is two friends writing and singing songs together; a collaboration that provides a catalyst for growth and enjoyment. Maurizio’s unique guitar approach and Brittany’s - R & B – Jazz-Countrified style singing produces a sound that is familiar, yet refreshingly unique.
Both developed a friendly relationship frequenting local open-mic’s in New York’s Upstate Capital District region of Albany. It wasn’t until the late winter of 2007 at an open-mic (Brittany was hosting) in Troy (Maurizio’s home town) that both musicians thought they would give the acoustic duo thing a try. Maurizio would attend Brittany’s open-mic just about every week; having a great time playing solo – enjoying Brittany’s opening set and then going back up on stage in the later evening to collaborate with Brittany – playing and singing each other’s songs. The response from the crowd was positive and the club/bar owner of ‘Positively 4th Street’ Artie Fredette (long time supporter of the local music scene, mutual friend and artist himself) said in a tongue and cheek manner “you don’t suck” as he walked passed the side of the stage and so MAURIZIO and Brittany took this as the nudge they needed to embark on the S I M P L E Theory experience.
Since the winter of 2007 – many shows have been performed and much has been learned. A live disc was released in the summer of 2008 entitled ‘Lightning in a Bottle’- capturing some of the duo’s best performances. The CD is only for sale at live performances (a few tracks from the disc are played on this myspace page).
S I M P L E Theory hopes to provide its fans a studio disc in 2009. A pre-demo release should be available in the spring for download.
Hey guys, Jen and I were listening to your CD in the car tonight so we thought we check out the site and give another listen. You guys are great... Keep on keepin on.
Hey Maurizio & Brittany, Great show last night!!! We had a fantastic time. I wish you much success and I look forward to watching your careers progress. Thanks for sharing. Your dedication and hard work is really starting to show!!
I just wanna let you know I am going to be working on 2 last paintings (unless there is something else you want) this week BUT I am having camera issues so Brittany is going to have to stop by when they are done. I'm doing the one Brittany wants and then an idea of my own specially for Maurizio. I hope you like them.
