The Simply Acoustic Plug & Play is run by Tony Staniforth and Karen Watts. It started out back in 2004 at The Forest Rock, Whitwick, with both Karen and Tony looking to start a night where local talent could get together in front of each other, and do thier stuff. What was originally supposed to be a humble, one off gig, turned out to be a great success month after month after month!
Sadly, for Simply Acoustic, The Forest Rock closed in mid 2007, due to unforeseen circumstances..That left this amazing event homeless for months..that was until local publicans Mandy and John Ball offered The Lady Jane as a new home in early 2008. The Lady Jane is situated about halfway down Hall Lane, Whitwick, and is fast becoming a popular music pub, with entertainment on most weekends. All people are welcomed their, old and young alike.
Now, the Simply Acoustic Plug & Play is hosted Every 2nd Saturday of every month at The Lady Jane and, due to the bigger venue, is more amazing than ever!
NEW UPDATE!!
The Simply Acoustic Plug & Play has now adopted an optional FANCY DRESS POLICY!! If you like to don the Boy George outfit every now and then...why not?!!
The concept of Plug & Play has evolved too..no longer is it only there for acoustic musicians, it is hosted now for EVERYONE, solo acoustic artists, duo's, trio's, barbershop groups (we've had some of them!!) backing track artists, bands and more!! The Plug & Play has seen musicians as young as 10 and as old as 70 strut their stuff. It is a great way to meet the fantastic local HOMEGROWN talent, in the form of solo artists AND bands…here are some of them:
Unplugged, "Young" Ben (13)
"Young" Emily Linden (15), The Inspired, Sam Callaghan, Helen Stapleford, Silver Street, Claire McRory, Rachel Clamp, Gary, Rich King...and of course Simply Acoustic who kick off every night with their unique blend of acoustic covers. Of course there are many, many, many more..so many that it is impossible to remember the names of everyone! You don't have to be a cover artist to attend either - Plug n Play is available for cover and original artists alike..Stanny Says.. Good to see some new faces to p&pthanks to everyone for making JUNE plug & play such a great night , see you all next monthJULY 11TH for more fun drink & music.
However, the Simply Acoustic Plug & Play wouldn't be the same without these 2
men.. Mick Stafford & Sam Callaghan are the 2 men that help make the Plug &
Play extra special, because both Mick and Sam are on hand to provide any additional equipment (eg: band kit) for when the bands take over..but remember - Bands Are By Invite Only!
Karen and Tony would like to thank ALL PLAYERS (PAST & PRESENT) for
making their Plug & Play what it is today..both Tony and Karen agree that
without them, the Plug & Play wouldn't of even got off the ground..
Here are a few comments that have been passed around the pub over the last few
Plug & Plays.. Karen Watts Lovely voice...good dress sense, but likes a drink...or 10!
Stanny You cant say no to Stanny...especially when he's had a drink...Bloody good guitarist though!!! Mick Stafford - Likes a drink, loves his hair, but absolutely 2nd to none on the drums. Mick Stafford is fan-bloody-tastic! Not a bad singer either y'know! Sam Callaghan Bass Player? Guitarist? This young man has got it all - that, AND he can sing - Sam can turn his hand to anything! Look out for him in the future!

Hiya Stan Here's a low res preview of a potential design for the t-shirt and busines card logo. The original artwork is much sharper than this image though.
I recorded my CD using 2 Larrivee guitars. I have been playing Larrivees for a few years now and really like them. Great balanced tone and quality. I have a OO-50 that I used for 2 tracks and an L-03R for the other 4.
