Founded in 2003, Simply Slang is a sleaze/hard rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Comprised of singer/guitarist Aaron Morales, guitarist Matt Overbee, bassist Pat Mulcahy, and drummer Jon Schang, Simply Slang is best known for its catchy, riff-laden songs, raucous live performances, and the energetic stage presence of frontman Aaron Morales.
In June of 2004, the band released its self-produced, self-titled debut through Platinum Realm Entertainment, and enjoyed minor success with their song, "Live 4 the Weekend", which showcased the band's unique blend of arena rock and punk, topped with Morales' inimitable sneer. However, it was the melancholy pop/rock of "Angeline" that propelled sales of the EP into the thousands. A supporting tour of the United States followed, with Simply Slang co-headlining several shows with various regional acts.
By the beginning of 2005, Simply Slang began to achieve international recognition via the Internet, due to free music downloads offered by the band. Later that year, Simply Slang returned to the studio to record their second effort, Bad Attitude (released June 23, 2006), which expanded on the style exemplified on the EP, adding enhanced production and a live performance feel throughout the album.
As a forerunner in the "neo-sleaze" rock movement, Simply Slang maintains cult-status among hard rock fans in Australia, U.K., Scandinavia, Latin America, Spain, and Italy. Despite the band's achievements internationally, Simply Slang has yet to enjoy any notable success in the U.S.
