El Sinfo Prog La Plata nace a partir de la iniciativa de varios músicos de nuestra Ciudad, algunos experimentados y otros no tanto, que hermanados en una visión musical no sujeta a estilos definidos y con diversos gustos e influencias, estuvieron siempre en la búsqueda de un espacio de expresión tan difícil de encontrar para un genero musical no atado a modas ni tendencias del momento, y sin prejuicios a la hora de fusionar estilos.
Curiosamente, casi la totalidad de los grupos platenses representativos de esta movida son instrumentales. Esta presindencia de la voz humana, impuesta ya como componente imprescindible de toda composición dentro de la música Rock-Pop, no es casual, ya que apunta a la transferencia de sensaciones, emociones y paisajes entre músicos y audiencia a partir de lo que expresan solo los instrumentos; es decir que el lenguaje hablado es descartado y solo se utiliza uno sonoro.
Esta característica, como así también la duración de algunas composiciones (demasiado extensas para las plantas radiales) sumado a la utilización de sonoridades y fusiones que no se ajustan a lo convencional, son el impedimento principal para la difusión de esta música, salvo algunas excepciones.
Pero como claudicar con lo que se ama, y mas aún cuando se siente la imperiosa necesidad de hacerlo pese a todo.
Entonces…. ¡Manos a la obra!!!. La primera edición del Festival y sin saber si seria la única, fue en el 2003, la convocatoria fue importante; el público respondió, se encendieron nuestros espíritus y se multiplicaron nuestras ganas. Ese fue el puntapié inicial para nuestro futuro compromiso con la continuidad del Festival, que quedaría instituido como una fecha anual, y que a excepción de la primera edición que fue organizada por cuatro grupos (Baalbeck, Retsam Suriv, Hexatonica y Ünder Linden) siguió siendo producido solo por Ünder Linden.
La prioridad en la programación siempre la tuvieron los grupos locales, ya que desde el comienzo se postuló que el Festival sirviese para mostrar la música que se hace en nuestra Ciudad, aunque también tuvimos invitados de otros lugares. Así, representando a la escena local en sus diferentes ediciones, se sucedieron “HEXATONICA, RETSAM SURIV, QUAKER, BAALBECK, KUN, IBIS ESCARLATA, ÜNDER LINDEN, ARKHAM, DABALL, y CHANETON y LA GODOY CRUZ BAND (Capital), y CAAMORA (UK) como invitados foráneos.
Pese a no ser fácil el financiamiento para la concreción de proyectos más ambiciosos, ya que no es un “genero” masivo bailable, ni cantado y menos de “moda”, el festival continúa vivo y cada año se suma nuevo público, hecho que nos alienta a seguir en carrera y soñando con participaciones de otras latitudes. This prog-music Fest. Started in 2003 as a kind of brotherhood of some local musicians who shared a wide vision of music styles and fusions.Most of them came from the rock scene and they wanted to create a proper space of expression for a kind of music that usually don’t has a place at radio and T.V. shows,although there are always some excepcions to the rules.
As a curiosity,most of the bands are instrumental ones,as they want to transfer all their emotions,sensations and mental landscapes only by the sounds of their instruments;and this is not an easy thing to do as most of the people are accustom to the song format.
This prog –music speaks by itself without human voices.This,and some other facts like very extensive tunes,are the “sticks in the wheel” for the broadcast difussion of this music style.But...how can we give-up something we have the inner neediness to do!! So...”hands to the work”.
As said,the first festival date was in december 2003 and it was organized by four bands:Baalbek,Hexatonica,Retsam Suriv and Under Linden.The following years Under Linden became the producer of the event.
It was great:the audience and the show itself.Our spirits burned-up,and still does in this,it’s 6th edition.
From the beggining,the main object was to show the local bands,not a few and also very good ones.But at this time,we also have had some foreign visitors like Clive Nolan and Agnieska Swita with their project “Caamora”,Chaneton,and some others from the Argentinian prog scene like “Kun” “Quaker” “Ibis Escarlata” “Arkham” “La Godoy”and “Daball”.
Although it’s not easy to finance this “non fashion” event,it’s still alive and each year we add new fans,and blow up some young minds.This keep us doing and dreaming with the participation of musicians from other latitudes.We think it’s possible and hope we can make it. www.sinfo-prog.com.ar **************

Hola Gente!! los integrantes de Dánae, queremos expresar gratitud hacia ustedes por la gentileza de habernos participado del evento Sinfo Prog 2009, por el trato recibido y por la organizacion. La muestra de humildad y camaraderia entre los músicos, el nivel musical y tecnico en general. I want to apologize for not being around this last month or so. So much has gone on here that you would not believe. It's not enough that there is turbulence in my life, but my computer is also at the shop, as well. Thank heavens for my sister's, but unfortunately she's always on it, not tonight though, she's out. I will try not to neglect you any more.
