2010 is an important year with the completion of her MA Songwriting and her first tour through NZ as a solo artist since leaving in 2004. It has also seen two collaborative songs being released in the UK and Greece (EMI) and the start of her professional career as touring artist and songwriter.
Her new album "Picking at the Bones" will be released on February 5th 2011 with a launch at the Harbourlight Theatre in Lyttelton, New Zealand. The album follows the success of her country blues album "Ed's Bar and Grill" released at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2009, produced and engineered by the talented Mark Freegard at Kyoti Studios in Glasgow (Eddi Reader/Boo Hewerdine/Justin Currie), and recording with the fabulous Roy Dodds - Drums (Fairground Attraction/Eddi Reader), Kevin McGuire - Double Bass (Eddi Reader/Karine Polwart), Andy May - Piano (Marianne Faithful) and Nick Lewis - BV Vocals and Slide Guitar (the Mystics).
The album described as " a bit bluesy, a bit western swing and it's a bit Marlene Dietrich. Or, to put it another way, it's a whole lot classy" sees a move in musical direction from the more firmly 'folk' album "Journeys" released again in Scotland two years ago which was very much a product of the years of time spent traveling around the world including two years in Nepal - here you have tabla, mixed merged with full string sections!!
Having played in across the folk circuit initially in New Zealand as part of an all female blues/celtic band "Ruby Blue" and since moving to the UK as a solo artist and since 2009 as a duo/band Rachel has been part of the folk circuit for the last 7 years playing at host of different clubs and festivals including the Kirkcaldy Acoustic Music Club, Cambridge Folk Club, York Folk Club, Glenfarg Folk Club, Edinburgh Folk Club, Canterbury Folk Club and festival (NZ), Dunedin Folk Club and Whare Flat (NZ). She has also supported a range of amazing artists including Boo Hewerdine, Heidi Talbot, Southern Tennant Folk Union Band, Karine Polwart, Malinky, and so the list goes on.

Hi Rachel, Love Your songs. Both "Laid down & put to rest" and "Follow Me down this road" really appeal to Me. Thanks for Your Friendship. If You get a chance stop by for a visit. Best wishes. Dave.
Lovely stuff. All the best with the tour. Your song Falling Again has echos of my Early Days, on my player.

Have a great weekend!
I especially like " Follow me down "..You have a solid talent Rach..Cheers..Cal
Hi Rachel
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're quite a techy really. You're first song in logic is magic. I love it - shall be asking for lessons when I get stuck.
Luv Marty.
Hi Rachel, I dropped in for a proper listen for the first time, and very much like what I hear - especially You're a Breath Away, and Contre l'Avis. The first is insightful and deep, and the second is touching in its simplicity, and your beautiful voice is quite simply yours, no matter what anyone says!
Tim
Sorry you couldn't make it to Fairnie Palace, Rach- you missed a great party! Glad that you're settling in well to Bristol, and I hope 2010 brings lots of good things your way!! CU when you're hame! Slainte.
Hi Rachel
Tom's party was great, some great musicians, just like the Jools Holland show, sorry you couldn't make it. You wouldn't get me back to school, any kind of school lol!!! Hope the assignments are going well!
Have a good Hogmanay!
Mark
