Robbie Valentine started his musical career originally as a bass player, he backed a host of big names such as Lieutenant Stichie, Micheal Prophet and the late Bim Sherman to name a few.
His career as a singer took off after a chance meeting in 1988 with Clifton Specialist Dillon of Specs shang Records and Pioneer Muzik of Jamaica, at that time Specialist was involved in the staging and promoting of the annual Sting Reggae Concerts in Kingston Jamaica. Whilst visiting a friend in England, he heard Robbie's voice and was so impressed he flew him out to Jamaica to record him and to do a series of shows of which Sting was the biggest.
During his six months stay in Jamaica, an album worth of material was recorded with the Fire house Crew & Dean Fraser at Gussie Clarke studio, three tracks were lifted 'You'll never find', 'Jamming' and '$10,000 reward' all of which which were released on the Pioneer Muzik label and reached England on pre release 7" singles.
On Robbie's return to England he formed his own band the Mystic Crew alongside his brother Andrew and started touring extensively around the U.K and Europe, supporting acts such as Burning Spear, Sugar Minott, Mikey General, Desmond Dekker, Frankie Paul , Beres Hammond and Maxi Priest.
Robbie has also been very busy on the recording scene in the U.K from which there have been many releases on singles and compilations on labels such as Mafia & Fluxy, Gussie P, Cousins & Blakamix.
He has had some big tunes out in recent years which have done very well and reached the reggae charts such as 'Nobody But Jah' on Mafia & fluxy (which also figured on the Jet Star Reggae Hits Compilation), 'satisfaction Guaranteed on Gussie p', 'You are the one for me' on D'jango and 'Looking for love' on Cousins also 'Conscious Warrior' & 'Know thy self' on Recession Beater & Sip a cup & 'Eat my flesh' & 'Batter dem down'on Blakamix were well received and did very well on the roots circuit. In 2001 an album was released called ' Satisfaction Guaranteed' on Gussie P label.
Robbie's most recent album 'JAH IS MY DEFENDER' on Blakamix Int'l label features Robbie Valentine in a full unadulterated roots and culture, available at www.blakamixshop.co.uk and all good music outlets.
