Sinti Rhythm performs Gypsy jazz and vintage swing music inspired by Django Reinhardt
and the Sinti musicians of Europe, also known as the Manouche. An infectious blend powered by string-based rhythms, the repertoire includes standards from the Great American Songbook, compositions by Django, and selections from Manouche musicians like Bireli Lagrene, Dorado Schmitt and Titi Winterstein. Sinti Rhythm has been playing this music in venues throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast, including a three-year monthly residency at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, an appearance at the Brooklyn Djangology Festival, and shows at Toad, Cantab Lounge, Sherborn Inn, Novartis, and others. The instrumentation consists of the traditional Gypsy rhythm section of two guitars and an upright bass, highlighted with clarinet, and varied with the addition of guest artists such as jazz violinists Matt Glaser and Jason Anick, mandolinist/guitarist John McGann, saxophonists Andy Voelker and Stan McDonald, and singer Mollie Malone. The ensemble has expertise in planning and performing musical programs, and is available for private functions, weddings, and corporate events. We have amplification and are available in combinations varying from duo to quintet. To book for engagement, contact rob@robertsaunders.com. Jack Soref is available for private functions on jazz and Gypsy jazz guitar. He can be contacted at jsorefster@gmail.com
