Influences
Darrin Feehan - was born in St. Johns, NL, but he grew up in Outer Cove. His family moved there when he was 11. His favorite music has always been Irish, but he developed a taste for all genres such as country, blues, jazz, rock and roll, classical and bluegrass.
Darrin has always loved the music of the 40s and 50s especially the Big Band era. Some of his favorite artists who helped develop his love of music are the Carlton Showband, Sons of Erin & Ryans Fancy.
He learned the accordion at age 6 and was heavily influenced by his father Frank Feehan, who was a master accordion player. He also plays a little guitar, mandolin and the bodhran.
In 1999, along with Jim Carroll, Darrin formed Síochána.
****************************************************************
Wayne James - influenced by country & bluegrass music primarily. Wayne James joined Síochána along with former members Steve Knight and Charlie Shallow in September, 2001.
Wayne has many talents, the least of which is his mastery of the guitar and the mandolin. Wayne is also a prolific song writer.
He has penned the likes of Beacon, Halls Bay Fisherman,
Standing on the Corner and Goin Away. His new song Summertime will soon be released by the band on their upcoming CD, set to be released in February 2008.
****************************************************************
Jim Feehan - Jim Feehan joined the band in July, 2004. His musical influences range from Garth Brooks to classic rock and include just about everything in between. Probably the greatest inspiration for Jim would have to be Stan Rogers.
Jim's first taste of a performing group would be when he joined the Outer Cove Concert Crowd when he was 16.
At 20 Jim began playing in several pubs in and around St. John's until he moved to Alberta and eventually helped create the only Celtic band in central Alberta, St. James Gate.
Jim lends his guitar, bodhron and vocals to Síochána.
****************************************************************
Bruce Mesh - is one of the original members of Síochána and the group's bass guitar player. His influences came while listening to his parents' 8-track recordings of "Harry Hibbs", "The Carlton Showband", and "The Irish Rovers"
(to name just a few) as well, he was enthusiastic about heavy metal rock. With the emergence of "The Wonderful Grand Band" in the early 80's, this gave Bruce a new appreciation for Irish & Newfoundland traditional music...He's been a lover of the genre ever since.... (he seldom listens to anything else!). "Ryan's Fancy", "The Clancy Brothers" and the late "Luke Kelly (The Dubliners)" rank among his greatest influences.
During his high school years Bruce played bass in a garage band "Feedback" with some close buddies. In addition to bass guitar, he also plays acoustic guitar, tin whistles, mandolin and bodhran.
He's played in several other bands over the years including pub band "Companion Waye", the RNC/RCMP group "Justice Combined", and "The Outer Cove Concert Crowd".
For the past 10 years, St. John’s, Nfld based roots band Síochána (pronounced sha kahw naa) have evolved from kitchen party band to one of the top roots bands in the city. They play a mixture of Traditional Newfoundland, bluegrass, Celtic, folk and some old rock and roll music and are known for their tight harmonies and high energy shows on stage.
In 2000, with the help of several local artists, Síochána released their first CD entitled "COPS FOR CANCER" "on the beat". All profits for this compilation CD were donated to charity.
In October 2002 they released their second compilation charity CD in support of four local children's charities entitled "COPS FOR KIDS" "....the beat goes on".
In 2005, Síochána released a third CD entitled, Síochána "On Our Own" which was recorded "Live" at Bridie Molloy's on George Street. For the first time this group of five were releasing a CD that was all Síochána, not a compilation and it was not for charity.
Since the CD's release original songs, like "Dance Me Away", "Pirate Ship", "Standin' On The Corner" the title track "On Our Own", as well as their version of "I Had A Hat" and “Fox on the Run”, have become fan favorites.

I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.

CountryHome Forum have more than 5,000 members. Each news you submit to CountryHome Forum will released to my weekly Newsletter with more than 50,000 readers.
Please submit your artist news and events to CountryHome Forum to help your artists to get well known better in Europe. If you do not have the time to submit your artist news and events by yourself, please send it me to: Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de and I will submit them by myself to CountryHome Forum.
I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks
Christian
