SiouxCountry.com Breaking New Ground For Females
Props to Siouxcountry.com and the community that has been built celebrating the females. The site is still relatively new, however it has managed to accomplish what most forums never achieve… build and maintain a following. I’m a supporter of this forum in large part because the owner/creator maintains a positive atmosphere that is free of the usual online/forum whoo-haa. Sure there are a handful of twits that seem to have nothing of value to add (and they are usually male pissing matches) but like anything in life it comes with the territory. This is a site we recommend in my Muscle & Fitness Hers magazine column as well as here on Hardbody.com. If you’re a female looking for a friendly online community this is the place to be.
Recently the site did something above and beyond what most forums would dream of doing. It held a contest and rewarded sponsorships to a handful of deserving females. The big winner was NPC Figure competitor Alyssa Stroud. I remember seeing Alyssa at an Arkansas figure contest a couple of years ago where she won the overall title. She has a ton of potential and without a doubt very deserving of all the prizes she received. Alyssa wasn’t alone in taking home some goods. Check out all the winners and what they received on this thread.
Look for more with Alyssa in the coming weeks and mad props to all the contributors at Siouxcountry.com.

Radio Comes To Siouxcountry
One of the busiest women's Fitness, Figure and Bodybuilding message boards on the internet recently announced a new addition to the full family of exciting attractions they provide. Siouxcountry talk radio was launched with two episodes this month, the first was IFBB bodybuilding pros Athena Siganakis & Helle Nielsen interview IFBB Pro / 2008 NPC Nationals middleweight champ Diana Tinnelle, and the second was NPC Fitness competitor Jenna Mitcheson interviews IFBB Pro / 2008 NPC Jr. Nationals Class A figure champ Sue Upson.
Jason from Siouxcountry admits the shows are not really polished, its about the athletes just letting the conversation flow, "The shows are raw, not professional, and no advertising. The women chat about whatever they want. I will not be a host. Women of our site will host it."
Jason is relatively new to the sport and despite its immense success Siouxcountry has not been around for a very long time. They get thousands of visitors on the site each week that includes a large number of IFBB pro's and competitors, probably due to Jason's passion for the sport and appreciation of the athletes, "I do care greatly about the girls. My site will always be about them, and I have their best interest at heart. I don't see myself as a businessman. I am more of a fan. It all started slowly by making friends in this industry. I didn't even know what Figure was 2 years ago."
Jason also understands that making it in the tightly knit fitness industry often times comes down to building and maintaining relationships that are mutually beneficial and he does that by actively contributing to other fitness industry message boards including Bodysport Forums.
Message boards are successful because of the people that run them and the people that post on them which explains in a nutshell why Siouxcountry is one of the best boards on the net, hands down.

Many times message boards get a bad rap for fostering negativity, especially in the fitness, figure and bodybuilding world. Message boards are often filled with gimmick accounts looking to bash on anyone and everyone or ruin valid discussions. I visit a number of forums for photography, design, MMA and other niches. There always seems to be a few people who post more often then others for whatever reason. I do agree that the message boards in our industry tend to lean on the more negative side of things then other industries. That is until recently. A few months ago, a board called “siouxcountry” has started to flourish. What the name means and what it has to do with fitness? I haven’t a clue. Who runs the board? Again I haven’t the slightest idea. Honestly, I don’t care who the guy is or need to know his name or see his face because he’s created a positive environment that fosters something refreshing to the fitness industry. The board continues to grow leaps and bounds every week with it’s members. You’ll find a variety of top pros and amateurs interacting with the fans. It’s great to see a friendly environment dedicated to the women of the sport where bashing and malicious attacks are not tolerated.
Women if you’re curious about all the happenings in the industry and too busy to visit a ton of sites (except for hard body of course), I recommend bookmarking the web site, siouxcountry.com. It’s worth checking out and rest assured you won’t be attacked or belittled there. Props to the mysterious country of sioux for his dedication to the women’s side of the industry.
