Sir Bald Diddley is a man of many bands, many songs and many pseudonyms!!! Also known as Hipbone Slim, The Bald Bomber, Baldhead Louie, Baldie McGhee, The Hairy Leg and many other far less complementary monikers, he sings, plays guitar, writes the songs and leads a plethora of bands playing in many styles. He plays rock 'n' roll, surf, 60s garage, punk rock, ska, rhythm 'n' blues, freakbeat, rockabilly and much more! He has written and recorded around 300 self composed titles and been described as 'Britain's Best Kept Secret' (Maximum Rock n Roll, USA), 'Immensely talented' (The Guardian), 'Britain's string king' (Norton Records). He also occasionally plays double bass.
Sir Bald Diddley has been a leading world force in the field of surf and rock 'n' roll instrumentals for a decade or more. Check out numerous Sir Bald Diddley albums on Alopecia, Sympathy, Raucous, Corduroy and others. His ‘Go Japan’ mini-album features a guest spot by the 5678s! He has also recorded with members of the Milkshakes, Jackie and the Cedrics, Mummies, Finks, Bomboras, Huntingdon Cads, Johnny Bartlett and Holly Golightly.

Garage-freak-beat-punk rock 'The Snags'; Surf/Garage stalwarts 'Sir Bald and his Wig-Outs'; Ska and rhythm ‘n’ blues champions ‘The Nine Ton Peanut Smugglers’ (which includes Spaj from Intensified); Rock ‘n’ Roll/Rockabilly aces ‘Hipbone Slim and the Kneetremblers’ (Featuring on bull fiddle John 'Lard' Gibbs, original bass player in the Kaisers and now of 'The Wildebeests' and ‘Masonics’ and the near legendary Bruce 'Bash' Brand of thee Milkshakes, Pop Rivets, Headcoats, Mighty Caesars, Holly Golightly, Masonics and many others, including the Link Wray no less!); The Legs with Jorge and Mr. Peeblee (both Dr. Explosion - Spain)- mix of rock n roll, punk, surf, powerpop, freakbeat,rhythm n blues; Juke Boy Barkus & Baldie McGhee (Primitive 2 man blues stomp) Louie and the Louies (Surf/Frat/Twist Rock n Roll)featuring another of Britain’s (in fact the world’s!) finest rock ‘n’ roll / rhythm ‘n’ blues rhythm sections, namely Matt ‘Sleepy Louie’ Radford on bass and Brain ‘Ramblin’ Louie’ Nevill on drums. Between them and often together, Matt and Brian have backed, worked with, recorded, and held occasionally together the following acts! He also runs the fantastic Alopecia Records. Check out the great ‘Locked In’ compilation series featuring many fantastic surf instrumental outfits and several mysterious ‘super-groups’! Bald has nunerous releaseas on his own Alopecia Records plus others on Voodoo Rhythm - Switzerland, Sypathy For The Record Industry - USA, Raucous - UK, Corduroy - Australia and many more!! The vast majority of these were recorded at the amazing Toe Rag Studios of London, using 100% original equipment. Recent outings have been to the equally superb 'Gizzard Studios' with ex;Toe Rag engineer Ed 'I Got The Sax Player Hired' Deegan on knobs and levers.
Bald is infamous for his rather daring stage antics which include surfin’ along bar tops, clamberin’ on tables and somersaultin’ and rollin’ around on the floor doing the ‘P-bug’! He has toured and played in France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Russia, Australia, Japan, US and Old Blighty of course! Note worthy supports include gigs Dick Dale, The Skatalites and Supergrass!!
