Biography:
Sir Silence is a Musician and community Artist based in Cardiff, Wales. He arrived there by taking the short cut from his place of birth, Hampshire [14-03-65] via assorted UK cities and Melbourne Australia. He achieved the antipodean adventure by marrying an Aussie ‘Rachel’ who had gotten temporarily lost in Nottingham.
Trained in Art and Primary school teaching but always cleverly leaving just in time before it got boring and they gave him a degree. His own work is inspired by contemporary mangaka such as Masamune Shirow back to early cartoonist Leonardo Davinci via the likes of Egon Schiele with a bit of neo classical stained glass gently thrown in for good measure.
Musically he was doomed from the start when exposed to his father’s collection of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan vinyl’s. His parents dutifully bought him his first 6 string guitar and 5 String Banjo. Armed with this tools and a near deadly exposure to French Existentialism he has painted and performed his way through the last twenty years, engaging audiences from 5 year olds singing his own version of Noah’s Blues, to festival crowds of 25,000 in the US while touring with his wife on a stage show that they were commissioned to write the music for.
So Scratch the Sky brings all of these elements together in a multi layered art project that includes original songs, text and visuals and dance.
People Around Here is the charitable trust that Bill set up last year to allow gifted artists to get alongside disenfranchised groups and individuals to use art as a means of encouragement and inspiration. Hence why proceeds from the sales of the album will go back into the charity.

Sir Silence and the hush - what a fantastic name! Pleasure to have met you!! I love your concept of silence and descriptiveness and there's a very useful thought about the power of silence and calm, within life and music!
