"UNE DIVA UNDERGROUND"
Artiste cross over dans l'âme, elle se reconnait dans le Hip-Hop et s'en réclame, parce que le lien entre tous les arts qu'elle pratique est la rue ; l'indépendance, la résistance undeground, l'intégrité, la fameuse "authenticité".... Si elle enchaine les pratiques artistiques, ce n'est pas par opportunisme, mais parce qu'elle aime profondément la musique, et ne veut pas se laisser limiter par un marché ou d'un style. C'est une des très rares femmes - et mère de 2 enfants - qui ne vive que de la musique et s'autoproduise, sur scène comme en studio.
Elle débute en tapant les percussions Afro-cubaines dans le métro parisien en 1984, puis presque par hasard, tombe dans le chant Jazz, puis les choeurs, dans beaucoup de groupes Reggae surtout, avec Daddy Yod notamment ("Faut Pas taper La Doudou"). Puis vers 91 elle flashe sur le mouvement Raggamufin, et s'oriente vers les Sound Systems, où Puppa Leslie l'embauche dans son Sound Ghetto Activité, et la forme en tant que chanteuse et Mc, puis elle monte le plus grand sound system féminin à ce jour, les Sound Sisters, et est invitée par beaucoup d'autres Sound Stystems parisiens.
Vers 94, elle se met au Gospel, puis tombe sur un disque de Mary J Blige, qui la fait plonger dans la Hip-Hop Soul, puis inexorablement vers le Hip-Hop tout court.
En 2000 , elle commence à. raper, puis en 2004, ajoute le Slam à sa palette.
Après une formation au Théatre de la Main d'Or, elle touche aussi à la comédie, écrit et joue quelques sketches sur les scènes ouvertes parisiennes.
Formée par Armande Altaï en technique lyrique, la très regrettée Militia Battlefield en Jazz, puis Lawrence Albert en Gospel, elle est également coach vocal et chef de choeurs depuis 1994, et a auto-produit 5 albums et bon nombre d'évènementiels, comme les Mix Up Sessions, où elle accueille en show case et scène ouverte musiciens, vocalistes, poètes, comédiens, artistes de rue... , en 98-99 à la Péniche Blues Café, au MCM Café, puis au Sentier des Halles, et d'octobre 2006 à février 2007 au Café de Paris à Ménilmontant.
Sur scène ou en studio, elle a chanté aux côtés de Jamalski, Bernard Lavilliers, Les Nubians, Dee Nasty, 2Bal/2Neg, Naughty By Nature, Big Red; Keziah Jones, Rico Rodriguez from the Skatalites, The Mystic Revelations of Rastafari, Kéry James, K-Reen, Corneille, Kéry James, Daddy Yod, Dee Nasty, Bernard Lavilliers, Big Red....... Notamment parce que, adepte du Free Style, elle ne résiste pas à un open mic.
"AN UNDERGROUND DIVA"
She is basically a crossover artist, feeling like belonging to Hip-Hop because the link between all the arts she practices is the street ; independence, underground resistance; integrity, what they call "authenticity".... If she performis in so many different ways, it's not for the money, but only because she deeply loves music and writing, and doesn't want to be limited by a market or a style. She is one a the very few women, and mother of two kids, who makes her living exclusively by the music since years, without any family or business support.
She began by the Afro-cuban percussions in the parisian subway in 1984, and then almost by chance, she felt into Jazz singing, then background vocals, mostly in Reggae bands. Then in 91, she enter the Raggamufin movement, and starts to perform in Sound Systems, where Puppa Leslie hires her in his sound Ghetto Activité, and trains her as a lead singer and Mc. Then, she settle down the biggest french female sound system ever, the Sound Sisters, and is invited by many other Sounds.
In 94, she starts working on Gospel, then discovers Mary J Blige, wich makes her fall in love with Hip-Hop Soul, then Hip-Hop.....
In 2000, she begins to rap, and then in 2004, to slam.
After a comedy workshop at the Théatre de la Main d'Or, she's getting in touch with Stand Up, writes and performs on some of the parisian open stages.
She is also a vocal coach and choir director since 1994, and autoproduced 5 LPs and a lot of events, like her legendary "Mix Up Sessions", where she welcame singers, musicians, actors, street artists in 98, and then 2006-2007 in Paris.
On stage or in studio,she has sang with Jamalski, Bernard Lavilliers, Les Nubians, Dee Nasty, 2Bal/2Neg, Naughty By Nature, Big Red; Keziah Jones, Rico Rodriguez from the Skatalites, The Mystic Revelations of Rastafari, Kéry James, K-Reen, Corneille, Kéry James, Daddy Yod, Dee Nasty, Bernard Lavilliers, Big Red....... Palem seul considère que Sonic Youth est le chaînon manquant. Est il le dernier des rockeurs ? Pour ce qui est de la direction artistique des nouveaux morceaux le mystère restera donc entier… Vous en saurez plus au Rigoletto le 14 novembre pour un concert plein de nouveautés, en compagnie des splendides Twins sisters et des non moins magnifiques Bagro’s (337 rue de Belleville 75019 Paris métro Porte des Lilas, à partir de 20h, 5 euros seulement mais c’est une peccadille).
