Comin’ straight outta the Australian ‘burbs, SISTA SHE have been together for five years, spreading Sista Philosophy In Rhyme. Whether on the stages of Sydney’s Opera House, or Melbourne’s Arts Centre,or whooping up the crowd at the Big Day Out festival, audiences are joyfully confronted by the hotness of the beats, the honesty of the spoken word and the sheer size of their curves.

After a chance meeting on a train station platform in 2002, when Sheila MC EILA (Sarah Ward) and Rasheda EDA MC (Candy Bowers) teamed up to take on a weirdo toothless local man who hassled them as they waited for their train (they rapped him out of existence!). SISTA SHE was born. SISTA SHE are now Australia's only feminist, queer, rap, comedy, performance-cabaret act. Joining them are the nastiest Lady hip hop beats Producer in the country – Busty Bests and the intellect on the Decks – DJ Jonah.
SISTA SHE creators Candy Bowers and Sarah Ward have trained and worked in the entertainment industry for more than 6 years. Candy has an Acting Degree from NIDA and Sarah an Acting Dipolma from the Acting Centre Australia. Sarah and Candy have performed on stage and screen as actors, singers, comedians and Hip Hop artists. They conceived SISTA SHE while performing in a fringe theatre company at the Side on Café in Sydney. It was there that they developed the idea- the world and the music of SISTA SHE. Sheila and Rasheda are simply heightened versions of their creators and for this reason SISTA SHE has a distinctly personal, female and Australian flavour.
This wonderful mix of Lady Hip Hop, stirred with the sort of comedy that can only come from two women who have grown up in the ‘burbs with Rock Eisteddfods, Johnny Farnham and Salt’n’Pepa, is incomparable.

YEP (Youth Eductaion Program) Award - Adelaide Fringe Festival 2006, Part of the APAM (Australian Performing Arts Market) - Adelaide Fringe Festival (2006), Greenroom Theatre Award Nominations 2005, Sydney Opera House and Brisbane Power house theatre commission 2004, Australia Council New Work Theatre Grant 2004, Triple J Next Crop Artist and most requested 2003, Featured Noise Artist 2003, Melbourne Fringe Directors Choice Award - Melbourne Fringe Festival 2003, Victoria Arts CD Demo Grant 2003. They won the YEP Award (Best Youth Show) at the 2006 Adelaide Fringe, The Director’s Choice Award for most outstanding production at 2003 Melbourne Fringe, were Noise Featured Artists, one of Triple J’s Next Crop hit predictions and won the 2005 TREV (University) best support band award.
