WHO WE ARE
We are 3400 members in 48 chapters world-wide, offering networking, advice and support to mystery authors. We are authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers and librarians bound by our affection for the mystery genre and our support of women who write mysteries. Sisters in Crime was founded by Sara Paretsky and a group of women at the 1986 Bouchercon in Baltimore.

Our mission statement is simply this:
"To combat discrimination against women in the mystery field, educate publishers and the general public as to inequities in the treatment of female authors, raise the level of awareness of their contributions to the field, and promote the professional advancement of women who write mysteries."

What do we offer our members?
Our weekly blog written by board members and other distinguished SinC members.

Our monthly "SinC Links"--a digest of interesting stories about the mystery business.

InSinC, our quarterly 16-page newsletter.

Annual membership directory published in June.

Reports from our annual publishers summit.

Books in Print, our annual online listing of books by our member authors.

An institutional presence at national and regional book events, mystery conferences and festivals with opportunities for individual author participation and/or distribution of promotional materials.

An on-going mystery review project monitoring media coverage of female and male authors.

And much, much more!
Please take a few minutes to explore the many facets of our website: www.sistersincrime.org

If you're new to Sisters in Crime and want to become part of our dynamic organization, you'll find a membership application at our website for downloading and printing.

Reach out to the camaraderie for which Sisters in Crime is famous; and keep reading, keep writing, keep recommending mysteries to everyone, everywhere.

STOP Same Sex Abuse

Jan 24 2009 3:58 PM

About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D
