Sister Rain was formed in January 1988. After just a few months and one gig, the band was signed on Voices of Wonder records. American underground and psychedelia from the late 60’s were important sources of inspiration. From 1988 to 1993 the band released four albums as well as participating on several compilations. The band also became known for its artwork; both record covers and posters have been included in art books and some of the albums were releases in limited versions that has become collectors items.
The band toured extensively in Norway and other countries, including even the USSR and Poland before the iron curtain fell. When Gun’s and Roses visited Norway members of the band arranged a meeting with Sister Rain after listening to their records and this resulted in the project Merchants of Venus with some of the members from Sister Rain and an album recorded in LA. This development led to a break for Sister Rain from 1995 to 2002, but the members kept in touch and sometimes worked together on different musical projects.
Since 2002 they began appearing live with the original line-up again and are now fully active. The past two years they have played many gigs in Norway including some of the main festivals. They are currently working on a new album to be released this autumn and are planning to go on tour this summer, including a revisit to Eastern Europe.

It's four years since Sound Of Mu opened its doors to Oslo. Lasso (elastique) celebrate with a selection of seldom heard songs. And what better way to celebrate the winter solstice? Druids welcome! .
Lasso (elastique) play at Sound Of Mu (Markveien 58, 0550 Oslo) this Sunday, October 4th. We're supporting indie-folk band The Burning Hell and Black Molly, both from Canada. With three acts playing and us probably on first, we could be starting as early as 8 p.m. I expect entry will cost around kr 50,-
Tuesday, October 6th, Lasso play their own concert at Månefisken Café (Sagveien 23A-5, 0459 Oslo). Between two waterfalls by Oslo’s river, Akerselva, lies the legendary Moonfish. That’s where Lasso go sunfishing. Entry is free. 9 p.m. should be a good time to come.
Lasso (elastique) play a gig with a view as part of a free (YES, FREE!) festival at Café Utsikten. It’s starting at 2 p.m. but I don’t know exactly when we are playing yet.
The other bands on the bill are: Grill Bill & The Hotdogs, This Is Music Inc., Jake Ziah, Pluto & The Planets, Bernard Briis Band.
Saturday 06/06/2009 21:30 at Sound Of Mu, Markveien 58, Oslo Cost: A fistful o’ nothin’!
Lasso (elastique) contribute to the festivities during Musikkfest Oslo. According to their website, we’re on at 8 p.m. in Markveien, but the plan is to play inside at Sound Of Mu at 9.30. You heard it straight from the horse’s mouth!
Wow, the music sounds great. Yes, I still have your father's Norwegian-style sweater. Tell Fredrik to get me over again for Manefestivalen, how was it last time?
