Janis Joplin, Olivia Newton John, Bob Marley, Dolly Parton, Ernie Smith, John Denver, Neil Young, Alanis Morrisette, and local South Florida artists such as Billy White, Amy Carol Webb or a band called B.O.B. among others.
Sounds Like
Compared to everyone from Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez to Joan Jett or Janis Joplin. Damn! That's a lotta J's!
Record Label
No label... and I do not want one unless it's mine
I wrote my first song for a contest. It was in "Tiger Beat" magazine, and it was called "Sing Along With Shaun" (Cassidy)
I wrote this heartfelt song, and didn't even place. What DID win? "You are my Shaun Shaun, my only Shaun Shaun"!
That was when I learned, early on, that there's no accounting for taste.
The next time I wrote a song there was some kind of talent contest going on at school, and I actually wrote it for another girl, but my introverted shyness prevented me from delivering it to her or performing publicly.
It would, in fact, be many years before I played for a crowd larger than 3 or 4 close friends/family. When I was a kid, my next door neighbor once offered me money to come over and play for a party his family was having, but I chickened out on that one, too.
I must confess that I was a terribly poor songwriter, mediocre at best... for the first two thirds of my life. Until I had accumulated my share of life experience, my songs lacked any real spirit.
Now, life experience is a funny thing. For some, they get their share early in life... and others live to the end of their (long!) lives without accumulating much of it.
Enough about that. Anyway: my life experience began to add up, along with opinions derived from reading, watching TV and movies, discussion with brilliant minds wherever I could find and pick them... etc. and so on.
As you can see, over time... the resulting mixture has become truly my own style and flavor. However, I am a newbie at digital production, having just ordered the equipment to dive into the 21st century at long last. Therefore I welcome any and all suggestions, compliments, (kind) criticism and guidance as well as offers to add your tracks to mine or requests to lay down tracks on your stuff. Just ask! Local or long-distance, I'd love to! You might have to teach me how or tell me what to do as far as sending back & forth across the web but I learn fast.
You'll find me to be a very friendly and caring person... but also busy and distracted (think "absent-minded professor") so don't ever think I'm ignoring you or forget you, I require reminders at regular intervals for everything so don't be bashful. I'm an Aspie, which means I have Asperger's Syndrome, (an Autism Spectrum Disorder) I don't bite.
I have several projects in the works, keep an eye on all of my websites if you don't want to miss anything. Ciao!

Charles Dickens began pasting labels on blaking pots. The tragedy of his first love penetrated the depths of his soul, and converted him into one of the world's truly great authors. That tragedy produced, first, David Copperfield, then a succession of other works that made this a richer and better world for all who read his books. Dissappointment over love affairs, generally has the effect of driving men to drink, and women to ruin; and this because most people never never learn the art of transmuting their strongest emotions into dreams of a constructive nature.
A smile is the light in your window that tells others, that there is a caring, sharing person inside. Life is short but a smile takes barely a second. Every tear has a smile behind it. A smile is a curve that sets everything straight. A good neighbor is a fellow who smiles at you over the back fence, but doesn't climb over it. If you see a friend without a smile; give him one of yours. A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly, But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around. Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful. Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, which have the potential to turn a life around. Smiles are the language of love. The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection. A smile is an inexpensive way to change your looks All people smile in the same language. A warm smile is the universal language of kindness. If I thought that a smile of mine, might linger the whole day through and lighten some heart with a heavier part, I'd not withhold it… Would you?
Smile because God gave Human this beautiful gift... A Smile.... So KEEP SMILING!!!
