Situation at 1200 was a band that exsisted between the years of 1998 - 2000 and were based out of Morris County, NJ. The band was formed out of the ashes of two NJ bands, My Favorite Citizen and Ember. Both bands had been close friends and played many shows together. When both band's time were up, Scott Shields (guitar/vox) of MFC joined forces with Chris Vaglio(guitar), Bill McVeigh(drums), and Paul D'elia(bass) of Ember. Hence Situation at 1200 was formed. The name came out the band's fascination with outer space and UFO's which play a big influence in their songwriting and sound.
Between the years of 1998 and 2000 the band recorded a 7 song demo, relased a 5 song E.P. on your Your Best Guess Records and a swan song 3 song E.P. that could be downloaded for free from

They also played many shows with a lot of very cool bands like Braid, Jejune, Jimmy Eat World, Rainer Maria, Coalesce, You and I, Thursday, Miracle of '86, Midtown, The Dillinger Esacpe Plan, Kid Dynamite, Brandston, Penfold, Big Wig, Blacktop Cadence, Hot Water Music, Ted Leo, Strike Force, Pillow, and many more.
Their final show was played on William Paterson Universiy's radio station in August of 2000, with Ted Leo and Miracle of '86.
