Welcome to Sivan's Official Myspace.
The Myspace is officialy oppened!!
Sivan Behnam, was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel on may 24th 1981.
Even though Sivan grew up in Tel Aviv, she spent a large part of her childhood in New York because most of her family lived there.
Sivan's love for black music began at age 5, while she was staying with her family in New York, where the atmosphere on the street was 100% hip hop and R n' B.
During Sivan's kindergarten years, her nanny always noticed how Sivan would take a broomstick and pretend it was microphone while standing on a chair and singing to herself, while the rest of the kids were playing in the sand box.
Sivan was the first born in her traditional Persian family. She has a sister that is 10 years younger than her, naturally making her conservative parents very protective on their daughters.
Until the age of 19, being a singer for Sivan was just a dream that was far away, mainly because of the resistance of the family, especially by her father. He claimed a singing career is a doubtful profession, unrespectable, and not typical for the culture and the traditional house.
Sivan, who has been breathing since she was a child the black music, grew up listening to singers like Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, Faith Evans, SWV, Stevie Wonder, Donell Jones and many more.
It was always a challenge for Sivan to find places to hang out at in Israel that plays the music she likes.
In 1995, at the age of 14, Sivan met a young guy named Kobi Shimony, AKA Subliminal, out side of the hip hop club, House 26 Club. He told her that he has heard from a few people that she can sing.
Subliminal asked from Sivan to sing for him. Sivan started to sing in the middle of the street and blew him away with her voice.
Right away, Subliminal promised that as soon as he was finished with his army service, he was going to release an album, in which he wanted her to be a part of, and this is exactly what happened!
As you can see, Sivan didn’t give up on her dreams of being a singer and as soon as she finished her army service, she made her dreams come true.
Sivan officially started to work with Subliminal as a part of his team and was signed on the Tact Records label, which is Israel's most successful hip hop label to date.
Sivan was a huge part of the double platinum album "Haor VeHatzel"(The Light and The Shadow) that came out on 2002, with many successful hits like "Hafred Umshol", "Hatikva", "Lo Tatzlichu Laatsor Oti" and more.
In 2004 Sivan took part in the Tact All stars project, which unsurprisingly brought out many other hits sang by Sivan, such as "Prachim Bakane", "ein Gvulot" & "Tistakel Alay Achshav".
During those years Sivan also took part of the many inside and outside Israel tours that Tact did.
Earlier this year Sivan received a weekly radio show named "Dvash"(Honey), on the radio station Lev Hamedina (Heart of the country), where she interviews the best of the Israeli music artists, and plays an hour of Israeli music.
Today, Sivan is 27, and has currently released her first single "Shoveret Shtika"(Breaking the silence) from her upcoming first solo album "Daf Hadash"(New Page). Stay Tuned.
