Brownout is the psychedelic Latin funk alter-ego of the acclaimed ensemble, Grupo Fantasm, who has been seen backing up Prince at Coachella and on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," visiting 8 countries (even Iraq and Kuwait), and making appearances at Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Their latest record, Aguilas and Cobras (Eagles & Snakes) features their trademark "hardcore latin funk" coupled with generous amounts of psychedelic experimentation and anchored by driving Latin percussion and lots of electric guitar interplay. This crew of musicians has deftly avoided the "retro" and "revival" tags with pride, never falling into generic cookie-cutter funk mold. Aguilas and Cobras continues to carry the Afro-Latin funk torch into the future by creating fresh grooves which are timeless, honest and filled with their own unique vibe.
Brazilian singer-songwriter Céu, who instantly grabbed worldwide attention with her Grammy-nominated debut album (2007), returns with a fresh new album, Vagarosa, out on July 7th. For this new release, Céu teamed up with her old accomplice, artist/producer Beto Villares to produce and record her new compositions. In the process, they also involved producer and engineer Gustavo Lenza (Céu's touring engineer for the past 4 years) and soundtrack producer Gui Amabis, who has collaborated with Céu on the Sonantes project.
Having a famous dad can be more of a curse than a blessing. For every Barry Bonds or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, both of whom overtook their fathers in the family business, there are thousands of sons who follow their dads with little success. (Franz Xaver Mozart, anyone?) But Vieux Farka Touré, the son of the great Malian guitarist Ali Farka Touré, has already stepped out from his late father’s shadow. Ali Farka Touré proved – in case anyone ever doubted it – that the soul of the blues could be found in West Africa. His son Vieux is turning heads with a more radical idea: that those western Saharan roots can be heard in everything from the jam band scene to Jamaican dub.
The name Bombay Dub Orchestra has built quite a global reputation. Fans and critics alike have praised their beautiful sophomore release, 3 Cities. Now in classic "Dub" style, tracks from that project have been remixed by a diverse cast of producers, musicians and DJ's. 3 Cities in Dub ranges in styles from classic dub work outs from International Observer (Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins) and Alpha & Omega, to bass rattling dubstep from Liquid Stranger, deep house from Rise Ashen & Pathaan and Arabic tinged dance-hall from up and comers, Earthrise SoundSystem. The collection is rounded out by three outstanding remixes by Bombay Dub Orchestra themselves, proving once again that they are one of the freshest production teams working in the global grooves scene today.

Come join the celebration over the release of our new CD – Boteco!!
‘Boteco’ is an artful mixture of neo-futuristic traditional Brazilian rhythms with the right quantity of the best North American spices. It is funk and rock boiling and baking with samba, maracatu, frevo and baiao.
Put Pele and Mohammed Ali in a fictional mix machine. Now add Frank Zappa, Sergio Mendes, Tom Jobim and Roger Waters and fused in to one. What a mix eh? Bat Makumba is this fusion, multiplied by 2.
