My name is Tim,I live in Belgium, Antwerp.
I started out as a dj when I was about 15. A year later I bought myself a Roland mc 303 Groovebox and started experimenting with that. After a while I was sick of having to use the same sounds over and over so I decided to look for a device that could integrate samples. That would be a Pc with a tracker.
I have been making musical tunes for about ten years, I started of with techno, trip hop, break-beat, drum n bass and electro. Every year I have the urge to go about a new direction and as of may this year, that would be very hip hop oriented. But I always carry my backpack of tricks with me.
Musically, I use Madtracker 2, Vst instruments, Effects, an MK2 Pc 200 midi controller, an old akai Synth and also cut up samples from old records, and some scratching from time to time .
My main goal is fill some voids with my music, get some exposure and keep building songs for the underground .... yes and eventually do some beats for the greater ones (lets say De La Soul,Gang Starr, Mos Def,Mobb deep, J5, Cypress, Nas, Eminem)
I would describe my style as smooth, soulful ,choppy, oldschool . I try to make my beats as different as possible. And the beat flow as clean as possible. Lots of time goes into finding the right rythme and the basss. My style is a combination of rare oldschool samples and clean vst basses/synths with some ethnic instruments in the back.
Some of my big Beatheroes are: Dj Shadow, Coldcut, J. Dilla, Dj Premier, Pete Rock and Dj Muggs…. To name but a few.
you're absolutely right about my terrible page-layout.. so i immediately took your advice and made it somewhat 'readable' again. your page looks ace, hope i can do anything similar someday.
