About me: Everything looks better from the seat of a bike. You can feel the wind on your face, the rhythm of the ground in your legs, you can feel your heart pumping, and the energy of your surroundings encompassing your body. On a bicycle, you can see the city, talk to strangers, escape the insulated bubbles of cars and feel free from the confines of cubicles. A bicycle is freedom, a bicycle is friendly, and a bicycle is life.
San Jose is the largest city in Northern California, but we are hidden in the suburban sprawl. It’s time to reclaim the South Bay, ride the streets, and make this place the active and exciting city we want it to be.
San Jose Bike Party is a place to ride bikes, make friends, and have a damned good time.
Come out, meet us, ride, get dressed up, raise some hell in this all too quiet city. I dare you.
We meet the third Friday of each month at Dick's Center parking lot (1400 S. Bascom Ave, 95128, near the Bascom VTA Light Rail station) at 8:30pm.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who rides a bicycle.
Fixed gear, cruisers, roadies, junk out of the trash, big baskets, fold up bicycles, bmx, those amazing low rider bicycles, trikes, anything but a motor is welcome! We will even tolerate those of you in Lycra...
How we ride
1. Stay in the right lane when possible. NEVER ride the sidewalk. NEVER ride against oncoming traffic.
2. Pick up your trash, leave nothing behind.
3. Stop at red lights.
4. Ride straight, ride predictability.
5. Roll past conflict.
6. Leave no one behind.
7. Ride sober! It’s illegal and dangerous to drink and ride a bicycle.
8. Make some noise! (we need your help to remind those who aren’t following the rules!)

yeah me and my gf were hit with bottles, she got hit in the hand spranged thumbed it was a silver to dark gray ford f150, this was in the neighborhood right before we entered SJSU i know the guys behind me got hit in the face one guy was bleeding from his eye dont know what happend as they dashed outta there, but yeah this being my 3rd ride was a pretty tough ride as far as violent people go really sucks...i know when we were going up alum rock this lady in a green mercedez said something about her wishing she had a gun or something WTF is wrong with people, and yeah i remember those assholes in the red f150 who spit and said F U,anyway whatever i hope next ride we dont run into that nonsense lets just keep it POSI...keep the fighting in the octagon!
I also was disappointed with some people on the ride. Keep your tough guy bullshit at home. This had to be one of the most negative rides to date. I will be at the next meeting voicing my opinion on a safer ride. Those jerk offs in the red truck also made comments about pulling out a gun of some sort, paintball, airsoft, whatever they said is not ok with me. The pack needs to stay together no if you want a harder ride go this way an easier ride go this way. When that split hit is when those assholes starting to throw eggs and spit on cyclist. If it was the whole pack they proply would've reconsidered starting a fight with a thousand cyclist.
i dont give a fuck, assholes like the guys in the truck throwing shit are stupid. please join me in the next bike party and bring old wrenches you dont want and lets go to the dollar tree and get some eggs. jk.
but last night was fun, it would be nice to organize a small ride every first friday of the month or 2nd friday, as a "pre-party". (just not that many people as we have at bike party) so hit e up wih a message if ur downt o make this work.
yeah. i got punched in the face trying to break up a fight at the San Jose State Fountain. what the fuck was that about. i was trying to keep the peace and keep shit safe so we don't get shut down and this shit happens. i've been riding with the SJBP for around 10 months now and i have NEVER been so fucking disappointed in a group of people. yeah it's fun to get drunk and yeah it's fun to get loud, but there was no fucking reason for anyone to be fighting. and if there is a reason, then take it somewhere else fellows. it's completely irresponsible and disgraceful to the Bike Party way of travel.
i thought i'd let you all know that my glorious night was shot to shit when i had to go to the emergency room to get four stitches in my lip. it starts on my skin and then goes inside my lip at an angle. i don't even care about that at all because i've taken a hell of alot harder hits than that before, it's just amazing to me that people think it's okay to do shit like this at a completely positive and recreational event.
so please people, save the drama for yo mama and don't ruin this fun for everyone else. the second you get on your bike, forget all the bullshit, because it's going to destroy what we all love so much.
I saw those guys in that red truck when I was at the gas station off of Mc.Kee They yelled at me "bike party sucks" I was alone and gladly replied "Get out of your tuck and come say that" I know that me being all tough wasn't the best way to respond. I'm very sorry for that. However, as soon as I finished my sentence all 4 of the male passengers held up what looked like golf balls. I was a bit confused at the time, but later got nailed by an egg. Also... when we were riding through a residential I watched bystanders throwing objects at us passing cyclists. Not sure what can be done to overcome this, but I don't wanna get hit by a beer bottle, golf ball, or even an egg.
I went on the ride tonight and had major problems with assholes in a red truck who where looking for a fight. For all of you who where hit by eggs or rocks I did see a similar red truck pulled over so hopefully that was the same jerks.
