If you have any video or pics from the park please send them in. Photographers are always welcome any time to our events.
[The following segment was written when the park was first opened and has been the same ever since]
Kramer's Skate Park is owned by New Beginnings Church and is run by Travis Willett [the person writing this] from Vapor Legacy promotions.
But it belongs to the local skaters of Evansville- its up to us to keep this thing alive and if it dies we have no one to blame but ourselves.
The more we support the park the more we can do with it. By working together we can make this whatever we (as a whole) want.
However there are a few rules, or "Strong suggestions", apply-
*Please don't skate unless the park is officially open or I [Travis] gave you specific permission. We have a lot of liability concerns with the park especially with the lake being out there. Please don't make it harder on us to keep insurance etc.
Another thing to consider is that some friends of mine actually live in the church. So you won't get to skate long anyway before one of them has to tell you to leave- be nice to them, as I said, they're my friends.
They have better things to do than chase you away so please be respectful.
*Watch your language around kids. This park is for them as well, keeping swearing to a minimum isn't much to ask so don't complain and you won't get cut. You'll get used to it. : )
*If you drink, please don't drink here. If you smoke, use the ash trays. If you do drugs, stop.
*Don't swim unless the lake is "officially open". If you aren't sure if its open ... then its not open.
*Rather than complain to each other about whatever you have to complain about- complain to me. Or better yet, quite being so emo and fix whatever the problem is. (No offense meant toward emo kids, you're accepted here whether you like it or not)
*If you're caught stealing someone else's skateboard we cut off your hands. Want to find out if I'm joking??
*If you get in a fight end it without violence.
When I'm at the park I want to be hanging out and skating- not policing. Be nice and follow the rules to the best of your abilities.
I am extremely extremely sorry but we've decided (after going back and forth for quite a bit) not to allow BMX. The reason being that the material we surfaced the ramps with will be torn up very quickly by handlebars and pegs and the stuff costs $71 a sheet when you buy it in bulk. When we make a million dollars we'll build a concrete park ... till then its for skateboards and inlines only.
Thanks for understanding!
-Travis
DIRECTIONS
From Evansville (anywhere east of USI) 1. Get on the Lloyed Expressway and head WEST.
2. Turn RIGHT on McDowell (McDowell is the first street after "University parkway" and is not a stoplight)
3. Turn LEFT onto Middle Mt.Vernon Rd. (its a "T" intersection so you can't miss it)
4. Jog over at Posey county line Rd.
**Turn RIGHT on posey county line then Left back onto Middle Mt. Vernon
5. Follow Middle Mt.Vernon for an estimated couple miles. Look for the entrance to "New Beginnings Christian Fellowship" on the right after a long curve with lots of trees. Turn RIGHT into parking lot.
6. Stay to your LEFT and find the road that leads around the lake, don't take the road that is on the right, follow that to the skate park and enjoy!
From Mt.Vernon (pretty much anywhere West of USI)
Get on 4th street or whatever road it is that turns into the Lloyed expressway and head East.
Turn Left onto McDowell then follow the Evansville directions from step 3 to finish.
There is also 101 backroad routes you can take. I get lost have the time I take the back way, so I suggest just coming from the Lloyed unless you know what you're doing.
DO NOT USE MAPQUEST. Don't know why but everybody that uses mapquest to get here gets horribly lost.
