Heroes
None as such but anyone who does something without wanting something in return will always be a hero in my eyes, a very rare attribute nowadays.
A.K.A Skatownjay. As you've probably worked out i'm a Skinhead, and i'm a big lover of Ska, Rocksteady and Dance Hall Reggae. Music has always played a big part in my life, it's what makes me who i am.
I tried to learn how to play the trumpet (badly) and traded it in for a Keyboard and Harmonica, good move, i can actually play these instruments (a little) and am still learning. It's a way of expressing yourself and gives you a sense of achievment, whilst i can only dream of having half the talent of most musicians i deal with, i love my dream all the same.
I live in Hertfordshire (sounds posh, but isn't) with my wife and our seven children and promote Ska in my spare time (there isn't much of it, but i'll always support the scene the best i can). I'm an Assistant Site Manager, working 9 - 5.30 (Mon - Fri) but also on call out, i'm currently learning to drive, don't drink but really enjoy the manic life i live.
I've been promoting bands and putting on gigs for the last 8 years and have had the pleasure of meeting some truly wonderful friends, from other promoters, band members to the passionate followers.
Being a promoter is like being on a rollercoaster, but knowing the continuing ride, keeps the music you love alive and kicking, it's a ride you never want to stop.
Who I'd like to meet: New friends into Ska across the world
