Jim Souleyrette / Guitar & Vocals
Jim began playing guitar in 1965. He played in his first professional band, Bittersweet, of anchorage, Alaska, in 1976. After serving a tour of duty in the Air Force, he continued his musical career and has since played in 47 states and was temporarily misplaced in Canada…”oops!” Jim has played in the following bands: (Pause for a deep breathe) Hot August, Mania, Stagecoach, Tom, Dick & Harry, Colt Gipson, Hatch Brothers, Pacific Highway, Taylor Mayde, Trade Winds, and Toby Keith’s Easy Money Band. (Hmmm, and yet another “oops!”) Jim opened up for such bands as Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Kiss, Frank Livingston, Wall of Voodoo, Larry Boome, and Asleep at the Wheel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grant Kersey / Drums, Percussion (Comedy Relief)
Grant’s Mom tells people he’s been playing right out of the womb. It was more like 7 or 8 years old. Grant got his first drum kit at 12 and play his first gig at 15. He is originally from Virginia where he grew up around all types of music like Heavy Metal, Jazz, Classical and a library of Celtic Music. Grant hung out in bars and watched Dave Mathews. Oh and drank copious amounts of beer. (Oops Is Grant’s Mom reading this?) Grant has played with many local bands. He has completed two studio CDs and one live CD for Totem Head and Travis Allison Band. During this time he opened for Charlie Daniels, Slaughter, Driving and Crying, Eddie From Ohio, Bighead Todd, Cravin Melon, Sawyer Brown, Alana Davis and Toad the Wet Sprocket. Are you impressed yet? Anyway, what matter most is Grant loves playing drums and over the years he has met some great people and seen a few things. “That’s all I got to say about that.”-----------------------------------------

Richard Woods / Bass
Richard started playing the Trombone in grammar school. (Please no comments about “wind” instruments.) He eventually picked up the Bass. Girls liked the Bass more than the Trombone. Richards influences include Rock, Blues, Country and Blue Grass, Jazz and Reggae. Richard has played with several different bands over the years. Richard take on music is basically this…”I like anything that doesn’t SUCK,” “This band definitely doesn’t SUCK.”---------------
Dawn M Palmer / Vocals (goofy dancer)
Dawn began singing as a very young little girl and was of course the church choir singer as well. She started out singing and playing guitar with her grandfather Lloyd Byrd, Jr. around age 18. Other than church solos, she had never performed outside of church until her grandfather got her singing country music. The Backyard Band was officially the first band she was a member of which played locally around Macon, Ga. Later she attended college and completed 2 years of vocals including the college choir performances. This musical training was classical and some in foreign languages but she truly loved it all. Not long after college she dabbled in some Janis Joplin songs and sang at a local club in Macon. In that audience an old friend asked Dawn to join his band. Dawn began listening to blues singers such as Susan Tedeschi and Coco Taylor. After a lot of rehearsing, Gertrudes Mojo had a “CHICK” singer. They played locally and down in Florida. About a year or so later she was sitting in with an acoustic show of an existing band known as the Buttercats. Later on she became a full 1/5 member. The Buttercats played all over the Southest, accomplished some studio work and became a very popular band. Dawn continued with the Buttercats for six great years. In October 2006 the Buttercats were facing losing the bass player and drummer after losing 2 lead guitarists over their six year run. The band was scheduled to split after their last show on New Year’s Eve 2006. During late December 2006, Jim (of the Skeeterz) approached Dawn about becoming a Skeeter. She accepted and began rehearsing all new music as of January 2007. The Skeeterz have given Dawn an opportunity that she had only dreamed of since the first time she saw them perform. From Dawn’s words, “I am so Lucky!!!”

The Skeeterz have been playing professionally around Macon, GA and Atlanta for the passed five years. Richard and Grant met Jim Souleyrette while they were playing in a local group called the Lower River Band. After about six months, the three decided to form their own group. The original line up of the Skeeterz included Tony Radford on vocals. Radford, an excellent Rock & Blues singer from Conyers, GA, joined the band early on and definitely helped build the Skeeterz reputation as one of the best bands around. Unfortunately, Tony left the band in November of 2006 due to artistic differences. The Skeeterz had decided at that point to move in a different direction. Around two weeks later, Dawn Davis signed on to join the band. This Revitalized the band with some new blood. Now the Skeeterz are back on track. They have a full calendar of events to look forward to and are currently working on an original CD. The Skeeterz are looking forward to whatever is yet to come. For those interested, the Skeeterz influences are, The Police, Led Zeppelin, Alan Jackson, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, BB King, Howling Wolf, JJ Cale, Jeff Beck, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones, Dire Staits, Keith Whitley, ACDC, Rush, Beth Hart, Susan Tedeschi, Steve Earle, and about a million others..WE LOVE MUSIC!
UPDATE: What a fantastic 2007!! The Skeeterz opened for Mothers Finest, Molly Hatchet & Wet Willie. Continuing with some kick ass places to be such as Angel City, Unadilla, GA. Please accept this White Chocolate Chunka Yum for your very own Willy's Sweet Shop. Please send a sweet back to me because I'm trying to find a Golden Ticket and the more I play, the more Chocolate Bars I earn. The more you play, the more money that is raised for St. Jude Children's Hospital, a great charity that supports the needs of children with cancer.
