Sounds Like
Our music!
"An intense, heavy blast of monstrous, rippled, over-driven guitars & bass dueling with calm vocals... highly recommended."
-- LittleRadio.com
"Sounding along the lines of Sonic Youth or a darker sibling of The Breeders, Skeleteen are an abrasive assault of melodic gloom."
-- Barnia Rock
"Aggressive, instinctive, droning vocals via JAMC, with a tasteful hint of aggression via McKlusky..."
-- Detroit Scares Me
"The group really has a knack for sonically punching you in the gut with uncompromising & darkly twisted melodies."
-- The Audio Nut
"Skeleteen create disorienting noise vs. melody like MBV/JAMC & pride themselves on heaviness & volume like the Melvins/Black Sabbath, forming something strange & seductive out of the chaos."
-- Nofunintended.com
SKELETEEN specialize in dark bursts of sound, with guitars that tease with tranquility, then assault with a
deafening onslaught of noise. They violate traditional song structure with a propulsive backbeat that stops and
starts when least expected. The searing guitars strive to suffocate the ethereal vocals, whose lyrics display a
sincere revelation in the beauty of melancholy. The voice itself is at one moment airy, then suddenly scary, & not
given preferential treatment above any other instrument in the mix.
Although comparisons have been made to other bands, Skeleteen keep the direct influence of other artists at bay,
relying more on their own instruments to provide inspiration, rather than trying to emulate someone else's sound.
A Skeleteen performance is something that must be experienced rather than explained: dark, heavy, seductive, &
extraordinarily loud! It's impossible to fully describe their sonically morose landscapes with mere words.
