Sketch Williams has been surrounded by great mentors. Their influence has been instrumental in the development of his sound. Ken Adams, a classical coach; two time Grammy and Juno nominated Fresh I.E.; WSO resident composer and Brandon University Professor Pat Carrabre have all helped to shape Sketch’s wide open musical approach making him a desirable candidate to join the ranks at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Now adding local Producer/Manager Jack Shapira to the fold, Sketch believes in the importance of putting out music and shows that are enjoyable to a wide range of music lovers which is demonstrated through the versatility of his music.
Sketch has written hundreds of pieces in various musical styles ranging from orchestral arrangements for various instruments to hip-hop beats. At 19, Sketch’s diligent musicianship and approach is paying off. It has landed him a movie credit - his music has been featured in the movie Hybrid for the Sci-Fi Channel, the opportunity to provide instrumentation on a Grammy nominated CD, inclusion on The Manitoba Amplified compilation CD and regional finalist in the Radio Star National Songwriters Contest in 07 & 08. His latest single “Girl with the Pretty Name,” has generated 65,000 views on Youtube and continues to climb and was heard from coast to coast in Canada achieving charting status on Canadian radio stations.
