Spawned from a "dog-egg" in a kerbside gutter, Skewed Circus is the guerilla stunt wing of Komedy Kollective, designed to stimulate brains, move booties to basslines, tingle necks with guitar riffs, and please everyone from underground ravers with hard hats and luminescent glowsticks, to arthouse indie heads with unusual looking quiffs. Our absurdist mission is to engage, enlighten and enpower unsuspecting audiences through offbeat theatre, modern and contemporary music, quirky comedy, madcap stunts, and all the fun of the fayre, served up with a twist of the alternative.
Operating across Northern England, from several different locations, Skewed Circus is a pioneering nightlife concept designed to transcend artistic and musical boundaries, cross-fertilising genres, and ultimately, bringing people together.
Working as a co-operative of renegade artistic visionaries rather than a single entity, we are committed to our vision of creating circus entertainment that is eclectic, modern, and remarkably enticing. Our own unique brand of free-standing events are held every so often, but to test the waters of experimentation, we love to collaborate with like-minded individuals and collectives.
Anyone who shares our desire to break down barriers, and challenge preconceptions through live performance art, is welcome to become involved. If you are an artist/group of artists or a promoter, and you would love to expand your horizons and work with Skewed Circus on an extra-special event, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Likewise, if you’re looking to invest money in our projects, and sponsor us, we would also love to hear from you.

Members
The anti-egotistical organisers of Skewed Circus, prefer to remain anonymous, watching on, like stage directors, while the real stars of the show, our artists, take to the stage. Organising not-for-profit events from Leeds, Manchester, and Bradford, we are always offering opportunities for local acts and performers to get involved.
The "Skewed Circus All Stars" are the magical, mystical, frenzomanic conquerers of apathy, and our pan-northern motley crew of magicians, jugglers, fire-performers, graffiti and visual artists; DJs, absurdist comedy acts, face-painters, musicians, and Jackass-style freak show acts, are especially groomed to rock the party. We actively oppose racism, homophobia, class divisions, musical snobbery, corporate meglomania, and war, and our socially-conscious streak shines through our circusesque activities, our push towards cultural inclusivity, reflected by our mission statement, which anybody is free to download by clicking the following link (c) 2008: -

Heroes
Anti-heroes include warmonger George Bush, meglomaniac Rupert Murdoch, and sweatshop corporations. Heroes include Che Guevara, duck-billed platypusses, B-Movie swamp monsters, Mitchell and Webb.
Our truest heroes are undoubtedly our artists and fans, creative, fun-lovin' peeps who demand a diverse range of entertainment, and our trade union partners Unite (encorporating Amicus).

An integral member of the Komedy Kollective Underground Arts Co-operative family, the certifiable clown princes of ultrachaos guarantee to open minds and reconfigure consciousness through music, arts and circus vibes.
Pass the bouncers, through the doors, and you're part of the interactive nightlife experience, the static electricity of the Skewed Circus All Stars zapping your spine to jelly.
From intimate bars and cosy live music venues through to warehouse parties, prepare yourself for a veritable feast of fun rocket propelled by awe-inspiring stunts and ass-kicking choonz. Action packed by distinctive DJs, live rock, punk, hip hop, electro, drum ’n’ bass, rock, punk, dancers, world music, magic and performance art, the Skewed Circus experience is dangerously addictive.
Wherever possible, choreographed dance artists raise tempos and temperatures, Skewed Circus underground cabaret events showcasing both established acts and wonderful new discoveries. Innovation is the lifeblood of Skewed Circus. We don't just feature existing forms of choreographed dance in our performances. Plans are afoot to unleash groundbreaking fusion styles, and experimental installations onto the unsuspecting Northern public.
Endowed with a seriously fun underbelly, our revolutionary arts-nightlife crossover concept is tailor-made to reinvigorate the flacid commercial clubbing scene. Jam-packed with visual fireworks, tainted with interactive tomfoolery, and blessed with a wealth of existing and emerging talent, the only predictable feature of a Skewed Circus event, is the minimal entrance fee and the warm welcome that greets you on arrival. With no dress code (fancy dress, welcome!), no cliquish attitude, and a communal spirit of creative inclusivity, whatever music you listen to, whether you're a student, working, or unemployed, come join the Skewed Circus.
As well as our own events, we are always up for collaborations with like-minded collectives. People we have worked with include Manchester's Everything Goes crew and the one and only Bolton party starters - Gash Collective.
Who I'd like to meet:
Artists, musicians, DJs, bands, stunt performers, face-painters, performance artists, film-makers, and anybody else who wishes to get involved with our subversive cabaret cult, especially people who dislike musical snobbery and love to party. If the vibe is cool, be it punk, house, rock, rap, garage, folk, trance, bhangra, techno, punk, drum and bass, cabaret songs, theatrical balads, accoustic or grime, it needs to be heard. We would also like to meet promoters, venue managers, PR professionals, and other positively-minded people keen to help expand our dreams of universal cabaret inclusivity beyond the narrow confines of tradition.
Skewed circus performances currently take place throughout Yorkshire and Manchester, but when we have enough eager volunteers and benevolent sugar mummies and daddies to carry the pioneering concept far and wide, we will expand throughout the solar system, the milky way, and the outer reaches of the universe, until musical snobbery is no more.
Dive into our whirlpool of eclectic artistic passions and join us while we reject tired and worn cabaret convention, bringing together rock, dance, urban and world music in a living cocktail of vibrant contemporary culture. Skewed Circus isn't a narrow concept just designed to appeal to one demography, sub-culture, scene or social class. True art heightens human consciousness, crossing genres, bridging boundaries, uniting mankind.
Bring forth the clowns, and together we'll freak-out every town!!!
