“…beautiful, raw emotion in audio form…" -Cindy Lucas, WBSP
Inspired by the courage with which people maintain the struggle against overwhelming odds, the Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band delivers emotional tales of triumph and adversity—some haunting, some surreal, other based on real-life issues. Their captivating live performance has been described as “beautiful, raw emotion in audio form.” (-Cindy Lucas, WBSP Radio) The band was a Semifinalist in the 2007 Independent Music World Series, received an “Honorable Mention” in the 2007 Singer/Songwriter Awards, an international songwriting contest based out of London, England, and was recently selected for the 2008-2010 Florida State Touring Roster.
"Fly" (original song)
There's so much negativity and gloom and doom out there in the media right now that it seemed like a good time to put "Fly" up here. Remember, this too shall pass. Things will not always be this way.
"Forever We Shall Be" (original song)
I like to write celtic-style songs from time to time. This is an original called "Forever We Shall Be."
"Jenny's Song (The Best In Me)" (original song)
A young woman struggling with an eating disorder asked me if I would consider writing a song about it. Jenny, this is for you...
"Behind My Eyes" (original song)
This is a song that Sting wrote for me. Keep watching after the song is over to find out how that came to be.
"Scarborough Fair" (celtic style)
I came across this arrangement of "Scarborough Fair" by a band called Gypsy Soul a while back and thought it was breathtaking, so I had to learn it.
How to play "Scarborough Fair" (celtic style)
I got a lot of requests for a tutorial on how to play the celtic version of "Scarborough Fair" that I put on YouTube.
"Ghost Story" (original song)
"First Flight" (original song)
"A Peaceful Solution" by Willie Nelson
folks from Willie Nelson's PRI site got in touch with us and asked if we'd consider covering "A Peaceful Solution." Of course! So we changed it up a little to make it our own version, plus made this killer vid with our good friends James Geiger and Wesley Greene.
"Different People" Official Music Video (original song)
In this gripping music video for the original song "Different People," the Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band has teamed up with JWG Productions (James Geiger and Wesley Greene) to shine the light on society's forgotten, misunderstood, and unwanted.
"Too-ra-loo-ra-li" (original song)
I've gotten some requests to do a lullaby. Here is an original called "Tooa-ra-loo-ra-li." It's inspired by the way we grow up too fast in this world and forget the pure joy and beauty of being a child. Some have confused this song with the traditional Irish lullaby "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral," but it's different musically or lyrically.
"The War" (original song)
This is a song I wrote about my brother being sent off to war.
Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band live on Studio 10 in January, 2008:
"...what can only be described as pure genius...took our collective breaths away...absolutely phenomenal..." Tre Amici @ Ybor Bunker
"...I've had the pleasure of seeing Sheila perform live in an acoustic format and it was, simply put, beautiful, raw emotion in audio form..." -Cindy Lucas, WBSP Internet Radio

Hi Sheila Wow...Your music is so beautyfull...I really enjoyed listening.Love your voice as well as playing. Well thanx for the add and hope that more people gonna find you.
Hey Sheila!! Yes, I agree with ya. I wish we were frying chicken and making baked beans, getting ready for a picnic together! A real, down-home family reunion! Sounds freakin good, doesn't it? Haha... Getting ready to move, well getting close to closing on a new home in town, near the college. I hate the moving part, but oh well. I was looking at an older home with 3200 sq ft, right across the street from a mortuary, but then I thought, great, now they'll be keeping an eye on me, with baited breath, lol! No, this other place has everything we need, and in a very nice neighborhood. Key word...SAFE I love your youtube channel, just been watching this afternoon, and I'm so enjoying them. You are sounding so damned fine, my friend. I'm not surprized how good these are, you work your little buns off! I'm still an instrument whore. Latest find is a Gretsch powerjet firebird with TV Jones pickups, a bigsby, and sperzel locking tuners. I'm still getting used to its quirkiness, but am loving the mojo I feel with it. I want to wrestle with Nubzilla! Mucho love to you and Chris and the doggies!
Hey you guys were great as always....sorry we split before the last song. It's always a pleasure to hear Madison Street especially with added guitar. No problem on the plaque. Thanks for getting some dough to Leigh.
My lovely Sheila, every time I hear you perform, the sound just gets BETTER, and BETTER! You are an amazingly talented singer/songwriter - performer and your songs are just incredible!!!! Great show last night and we do need to get together really soon. I can't believe that I didn't ever see you a little on "Mothers Day"! LOL
