People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centred;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and GOD.
It was never between you and them anyway.
- Mother Theresa
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing, all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." -Gene Roddenberry
To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night: to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring... these are some of the rewards of the simple life.
- John Burroughs
I live in a small, magical, central coast town amongst the sea and the redwoods. I've lived here for 9 years now and am completely in love with the area - especially the location (so many amazing places within a 4 hour drive), the redwoods, the weather, the almost overwhelming amount of fascinating places and things to experience, and the fresh organic produce.
I moved here from Austin, Texas where I lived for 4 years. I was there for school, what else?:-) I loved living in Austin - it is such a beautiful and 'alive' town - and I met so many lovely and amazing people there. I majored in biochemistry but then somehow fell in love with Chinese Medicine - it seemed more logical than anything I was learning in school at the time.
So I moved to the Bay Area because the school here - Five Branches University - is one of the best in the country. It is a 4 year master's degree program and I have finished half of it. I have decided not to finish the program because I don't enjoy sticking needles in people (although I love to receive acupuncture). I am still pursuing my interests in Chinese Medicine though. Thankfully I have found a way to practice it without needles - acupressure and herbs - which I apply in my skin care practice - and Tao Te. I am a recent graduate of The Tao of the Body Institute and I truly feel like one of the luckiest people in the world to be involved in this work. To be a catalyst in people's lives for true transformation - physical, emotional, and spiritual - is such an honor. I've received the treatments consistently now once a week for almost 2 1/2 years now and it has changed - and continues to change - my life in so many rich and profound ways. You can read more about Tao Te in my blog. It is the 1st entry at the very bottom of the page.
Who I'd like to meet:
reconnecting with people I've known in the pastpeaceful people who are happy just watching the birds, the clouds, the wind in the trees, the stars,... - just being - maybe while enjoying a really good glass of wine
people with good character
kind people with a wicked sense of humor
genuine, positive people who see the big picture
local people who enjoy exploring this wonderful paradise that surrounds us
On May 5th, many Chinese locals noticed thousands of frogs on the move. They were seen traveling without fear of traffic as they crossed streets in mass floods. Many Chinese sensed the migration as a bad omen of a coming natural disaster, but the Chinese government told them that it was just a natural migration for the purpose of propagation. This calmed the people and no one took the omen very seriously. On Monday, 12th of May, at about 2:45pm, central China region recorded a 7.8-magnitude quake.
