Todd Eric Lovato a.k.a MC Skinny Dangerous was on his way to hip-hop stardom in the mid 1990s when his life was changed forever.
In 1998 Lovato was nearly killed in a car accident following a high-speed police chase in northern New Mexico. The incident occurred after local police and media watch-dogs uncovered Lovato's caper to over throw the corporate music industry through an intricate network of P2P software and file sharing programs. On Oct. 30, 2000 authorities raided the Skinnyfat estate but came up empty handed.
Escaping - only through the help of his faithful houseman Manny Lordsburg - Lovato fled, only to be discovered by authorities two weeks later. Authorities cite an anonymous tipster, who wished to remain nameless.
A second chase ensued, but rather than be detained by the fuzz, Lovato and passenger Lordsburg drove off New Mexico's Taos Gorge in an unmarked H2. The "parachute-seat-ejection" feature malfunctioned sending the duo careening more than 600 feet into the chasm below.
Subsequent police searches proved fruitless and Lovato and the legend of MC Skinny Dangerous was declared deceased.
Tragedy struck again when Lordsburg's body was found near the wreckage of the car. The accident sent shockwaves through the hip-hop and Hispanic communidad....
Meanwhile, in an undisclosed hotel in Costa Rica, a badly damaged man began recovering from his wounds - lacerations, bruises, amnesia, ego and post-traumatic shock. Known locally, by the natives, as "flaco-gordo" or Skinnyfat, the handsome, yet disfigured man began to piece together his shattered past. Beneath it all, a solemn oath to vindicate the death of his lost friend, Lordsburg.
Few recognized the disfigured man who frequented the inner-city open-mic battles while ensconsing himself in a deep hoody and a shroud of silence.
Emcee Skinny Dangerous was dead... so was Lovato.
What was left behind is a shadow, an echo of the old-school, an enigma wrapped in a riddle, a ghost in a shell, a paradox. The freaks call him Skinnyfat.
Beware haters and lovers like. He's back.
