Formed in autumn 2004 when Curtis joined as singer to the then Tranny Granny Band, joining existing members Ross, James and Scott, we played our first 'gig' two months later at the PAS Day of Rock. It would take another few months for us to decide upon our final band name Skint Millionaire (It sounds so much more credible than the Tranny Granny band don't you think?)
It took until October 2005 to get our first real gig, which was at The Jailhouse. Through the months of October to March we played quite a few gigs, mainly in Coventry but also in Leicester (mostly follwed by a fight or fans getting thrown out), before our last gig in March 2006 which was appropriately back at The Jailhouse. In true Skint Millionaire tradition, our last gig was ended with the last and biggest fight yet...
After an eight month hiatus Skint Millionaire was back, with new boy Gaz Carter to replace James on bass. After a shakey first month blowing off the cobwebs, we managed to write six new songs in a month and a bit for our first gig at Cock's Yard. Admitedly, we were shit and this gig almost carried on the tradition for a fight, but luckily the tension fizzled out.
Since then we've played a handful of gigs across Coventry and are about to start looking for more. We're growing up, both as musicians and in life, and we are really developing our style. Within a month or so we will have a CD out with five or six of our favourite tracks, these will be free to whoever wants them.
As we enter the last year of Skint Millionaire, before another not so brief three year (Or possibly permanent) hiatus, we're just looking to have a laugh and enjoy the time we've got left together as a band.
Thats about it really, just to say that if you enjoy the tracks we'll be uploading through the weeks and months, please do comment, add us as a friend, come see one of our gigs and we'll buy you a pint (We won't really it's just a marketting ploy, AKA Lying)
