I am a huge Red Sox fan and never believed the team was cursed--just mismanaged, lack of talent, and not executing when needed. Actually, I am a fan of all four pro teams, though I can honestly say that I am not as big a fan of the Celtics as I was, because I think the NBA is terrible. I am a big college sports fan. Football, basketball, hockey, baseball, lacrosse. Whatever. Maybe it's from having worked at colleges since I graduated from college? I like to golf, though I am not very good, spending time with friends and family, I never pass up an opportunity to go sailing--it's something about being out on the water that just takes my mind off everything.
Music
Clearly, if you looked at my CD collection, and the downloaded songs on my computer and iPod, you'd scratch your head, because there is no real genre that I favor. I like alternative, classic rock, top 40, some rap, a little country, etc.
Movies
I'm not much of a movie guy (much to my wife's chagrin), so I couldn't even tell you the last movie I saw. I don't have the attention span to sit without changing channels.
Television
ESPN and its family of channels (duh!), The Sopranos, Criminal Minds, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Family Guy, MSNBC, The NFL Network, Food Network (only if it's Rachel Ray or Giada). I can not stand reality TV and wish they would all just go away. My wife on the other hand, if it's reality TV, she's watching it.
Books
Most books written about 9/11, as that day still fascinates me from many perspectives, anything by John Grisham, pretty much any book having to do with the Red Sox, past or present, and mob-related books (The Underboss, Black Mass, etc.).
Heroes
I have three people whom I consider to be my heroes: my brother for what he does for a living (a sergeant in the NYPD), including all the long days and nights he put in at Ground Zero; my father for putting up the fight of his life against cancer for six and a half years--he didn't lose the battle, time just ran out; and my mother for taking care of my Dad from the day he was diagnosed until the morning he passed away.
Let's see...where do I begin. I am 35 years old and was born, raised, and still live in the small town of Winthrop, Mass., which is essentially a flight path for Logan Airport. But, you get used to it. I have been married to the best thing to ever happen to me (Jen) since December 13, 2003, and we welcomed our first child, Hannah Katharine, into the world on August 3, 2007.
Who I'd like to meet:
(not necessarily in this order) Bill Clinton, Theo Epstein, Terry Francona (the most underrated manager in baseball), Larry Bird (well, I did, once, in passing), Tiger Woods, Rudy Guiliani, Bruce Springsteen, John Grisham, Bill Belichick, Tony Blair, Colin Powell, to name a few...
