Skip Saylor produced the 2006 debut of Auckland, NZ band SPACFIX. This album won the Pacific Music Award album of the year in May 2007 (see associated blog for more info). Their debut single, "Sunshine Day", was in the top 20 of the New Zealand pop chart for several weeks, alongside the songs of superstar acts and solo artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Mary J Blige, LL Cool J, Shakira, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, and Gnarls Barkley.

SKIP SAYLOR/SPACIFIX INTERVIEW
SKIP SAYLOR RECORDING, later known as SKIP SAYLOR RECORDING COMPANY, INC. was a top level recording and mix facility for 26 years, from 1980 through June of 2006. During that time, numerous platinum and multi-platinum records were recorded and/or mixed there. Skip Saylor is now concentrating primarily on his mixing and producing career and towards that end, decided to close his long standing commercial recording studio in Hollywood in favor of building a high end tracking and mix facility in a new San Fernando Valley location which will mostly be used for his own productions, but occasionally rented out to selected clients during down time that Skip is not working on a project of his own. He has retained ALL of his equipment from his former facility, including his modified 100 input SSL recording console (pictured in this page's main profile photograph), Pro Tools HD and a large array of microphones and prime outboard gear too numerous to mention here (please see the equipment blog).
Having produced records from time to time during his numerous years as a studio owner and having absorbed the "tricks of the trade" by spending literally tens of thousands of hours prior to opening his own facility as an assistant or main engineer alongside such producer legends as Jimmy Iovine (Tom Petty's "Damn The Torpedoes"), to name but one producer and album Skip is associated with, it has become obvious that full time record producing is the next logical step in his already illustrious career and where Skip's true musical passion lies from this point forward. Skip is invigorated to be in the enviable position of being able to devote himself full time to it.

CANDYMAN 187: Skip Saylor produced full length debut album currently in production and scheduled for release in 2009.
Candyman 187’s style of rapping was taught to him at a young age by Tupac Shakur. A brotherhood formed between Candyman 187, Tupac and Yaki Kadafi of the Outlawz resulted in the founding of The Havenotz. Tupac took Candyman 187 in as his little brother and protege, and not only mentored him but helped him perfect his skills in to the artist we hear today. His destiny is one of a true revolutionary musician who is eager to make an impact on anyone who will listen. “Revolutionary Suicide” screams out for change and pays homage to those who have risen against injustice. The influence of funk and life in California inspires Candyman 187’s “Kalifornia Soul” featuring AMG. Listen to clips of both of these songs on the music player.
